One guy test positive for weed while in another organization suspended by NSAC. Gets his 2nd positive weed test, first one in UFC, NSAC suspends him, UFC keeps him on. He won both fights he tested positive for
One guy test positive for weed 2 times, both times in the UFC, UFC keeps him on. He lost both his fights.
One guy test positive for weed 2 times, both in the UFC, UFC cuts him. He won both his fights.
Inconsistentcy AGAIN.
What's the difference? How does UFC home grown Riddle get cut?

Diaz and Herman didn't go in laying and praying. Riddle also was being pretty whiny recently by bitching about Joe Silva "lying" to him regarding a fight with Hardy, and he was also being a dick to Ratner because TRT is allowed and pot isn't. So basically he was being a pain in the ass, while fighting conservatively, and not making them much money. All of that combined with them needing to open up roster spots in his division = him being cut.

Nope
my bad.
I wouldn't count the Condit fight as a win or loss. Draw in my opinion, regardless the point still stands. Inconsistency.
Diaz draws. That's all the explanation you need for him.
Herman gets helped out by how thin the heavyweight division is. He's also an entertaining guy with his "bjj doesn't work" gig.
When it comes to riddle he has some momentum from TUF and as a heel in England. There is just to many good fighters at 170 and gatekeeper looks like his ceiling.
Here's a question...how come whenever a fighter fails a test, what they failed it for is always made public EXCEPT in the case of Jake Shields? Why are his circumstances kept private? Or am I just a dumbass that missed something?
But the Jake Shields failed test is more on the state level.
The premise of this thread is that UFC cannot be sued I believe, because the lawsuit would have to prove it's sports and not entertainment. UFC can say, yes we had guys fail for weed, and some guys were cut, and others weren't. The reason is b/c the ones we cut weren't as much as a draw to our entertainment business.
That's what I have a problem with. There needs to be consistency across the board. I understand this is happening b/c Riddle may not be a draw, but let Riddle lose and then cut him like they do for everyone else.
And in my opinion, I've always been way more excited to watch a Matt Riddle fight than Dave Herman. Matter of fact I had to look up Hermans first name b/c I was wanting to call him Ed but I knew he wasn't the Ed Herman I remembered.
show no mercy - ufc can't be sued by who? the fighter they cut? im sure the UFC puts a provision in the contract that they can release the fighter for any reason.
as an employer, if you operate in employment at will states, you don't even want to give them a reason for termination.
the premise of your thread, like you said before, probably isnt as complicated an issue as you present it.
as far as entertainment value, i dont get a lot from riddle, but diaz definitely and herman definitely. diaz is the best fighter out there, and herman usually loses pretty impressively
I'm sure provisions you hint at are in existence. My thinking wasn't that they could sue for being cut for failing a drug test, but sue for being discriminated against for keeping someone for the same offense.
Like if someone got written up on a job for being late. If they got 1 write up for being late, one final warning, and then fired after the 3rd. I see it as being discriminating if a different employee is still employed with the same company after being late 3 times.
That's my biggest issue with this hole thing.
The fact that he even got penalized for weed is ridiculous, but in this cirucmstance, that is 2nd.

All of that suing stuff is moot since he's not an employee, he's an independent contractor who violated his contract.
Even if it wasn't pot and he just kept showing up to fight with his nails longer than the AC allows them to be, he knows what the rules and regulations are and he failed to abide by them so they shouldn't have to honor their commitment to him when he won't honor the contract himself.
I wish people would go back to crying about Fitch to be honest since at least he was a potential contender and when he complained it was more for the benefit of fighters in general and not as selfish as "They won't let me get high and/or fight Dan Hardy".
But I don't think you realize what I'm saying. I know he's a "contractor", but so are other people I mentioned. There is nothing that Riddle did worse than the other 2 examples, which is why I would say he's being discriminated against.
Cutting Jorge Gurgel, Ben Saunders, Damarques Johnson, Jon Fitch, and Matt Riddle, is all Fucking BULLSHIT.
