I submit that Chael Sonnen is not a fighter. Let's be honest. He's a WWE entertainer, playing the role of a fighter. But Sonnen is actually the worst kind of entertainer, because he does not deliver. In his signature fights, he not only loses, he loses badly. Triangled by Silva. Knee to the chest by Jon Jones. Near decapitation by Fedor. But still talks mountaneous crap near Conor McGregor level.
Probably stung by the widespread lack of support for his chances this past Bellator fight against Fedor, Sonnen had a pre fight super nasty interview with MMA Fighting, where he addressed fans who dared criticize Conor McGregor's behavior at UFC 229. Sonnen told those fans to shove the criticism up their asses, and then went on his so tired schumuckery about this being a fist fight and yada yada bing bing cocka doodle doo.
Thankfully there was Fedor Emelianenko, who made sure to avenge the fans with vintage brutality. Thank you Fedor.

Everyone knows he’s just having fun with it so it’s ok. He loves training and fighting and he loves talking shit. Let him have a good time, not like he’s assaulted a bus or anything.
He's been pretty fake for a long long time but he manages to remain amusing while doing it so people let him hang around.

Totally agree OP. Never liked him bringing the WWE shit to MMA and was glad to see him go but he changed the game just like I was worried he would. Sucks.
Agreed OP he’s only ever been in it for the $ and it shows. He’s the ultimate fall guy/failure heel in MMA and he’s made a career out of disappointing anyone that’s been sorry enough to actually believe his shtick. Thankfully that last ridiculous farce of a performance should do it for anyone that was even remotely on the fence about whether he’s a figher or an an entertainer and he’ll be relegated to the casual fan zone from here on
You act like this is some big secret. The guys level of success is lightyears beyond where it should based on his fighting skill alone. I respect him for it. Do you pay his bills or support his family ? He did what he had to do to get ahead and it worked brilliantly. No shit he isn’t an elite level fighter. That’s not news. But the guy also showed up and fought everyone he could. We live in an era of people constantly ducking the hard fights and Chael never ever did. He did so much with his mouth and was a master promoter. To say he isn’t a fighter is a joke. Yes his skill level is not elite but the guy fights everyone. He is more of a fighter than every person on this thread combined times 7. He fought Fedor, Anderson Silva, and Jon Jones. And he has wins over Shogun, Rampage, Bisping, Wandy, Brian Stan, and Nate Marquardt.
