...opinion about an Anderson Silva super fight?
Don't get me wrong, he's got to say he's focusing on Condit and I believe that's true. But the UFC and Silva himself seem to be cornering Georges into this matchup. Flying Anderson into Canada for the fight? Clearly a way to coerce Georges into accepting a fight, should he beat Carlos. Wouldn't want to NOT accept a fight in front of your home town crowd.
That said, I hope it happens. I'd just like the two guys who are going to fight to BOTH want to fight.

In for scoop. I always thought GSP never wanted the fight. He said if he did take it, then he would move to 185 and challenge the belt. Then after that, Anderson wasn't interested, now he is. Is this correct?

He said he would fight anyone who challenged his belt at 170 so Anderson said he would come down to 170 then.... :)
Dana and Rogan both said during the broadcast that if Anderson beat Maia he would face GSP at 170 next. They then pan to GSP sitting cageside with a headset on and he smiles and gives the thumbs up iirc.

I'd love for Silva to walk into the octagon after the fight and challenge GSP... And then have GSP respond with "Come down to 170 and you can fight me!"
I still had tears in my eyes from the Penn fight as well. We paused it and took a break to recover before watching Anderson....lol

BJ's my boy but, in all honesty, he was looking to reclaim that welterweight belt so he had to meet Georges at 170.
Anderson doesn't want the belt or the weight cut that'd accompany an attempt to get it. He just wants to be able to say he beat the next best guy, IMO.

If this fight happens I really hope GSP goes the way of Sonnen (though clearly wont be as entertaining, just hopin he heels it up a bit) and talks a bit of trash about Silva calling out the smaller man.

Carlos Condit is the same exact height and reach....are you suggesting that the ~10 pound difference is the "HUGE" difference? Did you know that Anderson is much more of a "veteran" of the 167-170 pound division than LHW?

He had yet to fully mature and grow into the monster he has become today. 170 Anderson lost to the likes or Ryo Chonan. 205 Anderson demolishes top tier fighters with ease. Anderson is clearly (and has admitted already) wanting the easier fight with a smaller man.

He was in his mid 20s at 167.
He lost to Chonan at 183 derpa.
His frame has not gotten any larger since he fought at 167, and even 175 vs Okami. He is softer, and slightly more muscular, but none of that changes the reality that Condit is also 6'2" with a 77" reach. GSP would be giving up 10 lbs or less to Andy at a catch weight, and weight advantages benefit a grappler MUCH more than a striker like Anderson ;)
No one is questioning his SKILLS since back then, but let's stop p[ointing to size as the reason that GSP shouldn't take the fight. What if Anthony Johnson never missed weight and was due for a title shot? He is even bigger than Anderson.....
Haha please GsP was always hesitant to fight Silva because he didn't know if he can win. After seeing the success of a wrestler like Chael and the fact Anderson is slowing down it probably boosted his confidence.
GSP IS A BETTER WRESTLER THAN CHAEL so the blueprint has been laid out clear as day, just Dont get submitted (:

Not so sure about that. Chael is probably technically a better wrestler than GSP and also way bigger and stronger. To say GSP is just gonna hold Anderson down with ease is really dumb.

He will fight Jones, and stands a better chance at beating him than anyone at 205 or below. He is just pushing for as much money as possible for that fight...
