Knee injury takes Ronnys Torres out of UFN 18

Superlutas.com.br informed that the Nova Uniao member, Ronnys Torres suffered an injury to his knee and cannot confront Melvin Guillard in the UFN 18, set for April 1st, likely in Nashville. The fighter informed that he has torn the ligaments in his knee and will likely undergo surgery that will keep the him out for six months.
Contract with the UFC is the most important step so far in his glorious career, now with a serious injury to his right knee, the 23 year old Torres (19-1 MMA), living through Heaven and Hell, will have to put his plans on hold.
In ten years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and approximately three and a half years dedicated to MMA, he has never suffered any type of fracture or serious injury that put him aside of competing.
"I still do not know when I will undergo surgery, by the end of this week it should be defined. I will stay in Rio de Janeiro where the treatment is better." Informed the student of Andre Pederneiras.
While a training with a partner from the team, heavier than him at the time of the injury, Ronnys mentioned this was not the main reason and that he has passed through rigorous training in preparation for previous fights such as this one against Guillard in April.
"I still cannot believe that this happened to me right now. But believe that I will be back on top and should be in front of the tough guys in the second half of 2009. I believe in God." He stated.
