nvidia vs radeon

looking for a card to boost dvd playback.  Any opinions on which brand is more reliable.

pulls up a chair, pops some popcorn

Any of the news cards that are on the shelf, be it ATI, or Nvidia will suit your needs.

Unless your current card is ridiculously ancient, a new video card isn't going to boost DVD playback.

Isn't this one of the things they are designed for?  Or are they for gaming graphics only?

Gaming. You can do a software DVD decoding on a Pentium 400, so modern machines with any sort of card wont have any problems

dvd play back is more on ur CPU and Ram

if u got a slow ass PC (specially if u got alot of shit loading in msconfig) ur fucked

damn, thanks fellas

nVidia are generally preferred by the graphic designer and GIS experts, whereas hardcore gamers stick with Radeon.
