NY MMA JUDGING SEMINAR?

ttt

 ttt

This reminds me I should finish the outline I am doing for this same subject.

As to where I believe the best place would actually be at a gym where a few of the amateurs or pros would be willing to demonstrate positions and situations, or even better spar a few short rounds so the students can evaluate the action and get feedback.

In New York I would see if Renzo would help out with this part.

The theory of how to judge MMA should be the meat and potatoes of a course like this. Along with a healthy dose of what techniques are allowed and often used in MMA. An overview of the major strategies fighters use. This would allow a judge to pick up on what each fighter is trying to do and then evaluate which one is being more effective or is closer to ending the fight.

..been pitchen this for years hear at the UG.... might get some ideas from taking a look at the older USAWrestling models from the 80-90s ...or maybe current...I havent kept up after 1995... with the Gold- Silver- Bronze Coaching, Reffin, Certifications  etc...and adjust the price with the times and demand.

...its bout time someone did something to enlighten potential judges that want to learn the sport..

good luck Crosby..

I assume you are serious, DC was the one that judged GSP-Hardy 50-43 I believe. He's been doing judging for UFC events for years, not sure when he started, and I assume he has a long history before that. One of the best judges in the game and cool enough to answer questions on this forum for us regular joes occasionally.

DC's a bit of a maverick as far as judges go, giving out more 10-8's and 10-10's then any other judge I know of.

His movie work alone is impressive: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0188981/

not sure where to find his judging history though.

crazydave - Whats the film oh judging master?

ttt even tho there is a sticky

If it was more upstate I would definitely be interested in attending.

Any info?

A few months ago I attended a judging seminar by BJM in Chicago. It was through the ISAC.

Please abandon this idea totally, I sure as hell don't want a tribe of judges scoring fights like yesterdays

Why would a seminar in NYC have anything to do with yesterday's judging? The seminar would only serve to educate current or future judges.

Because the guy that made the thread is the same guy that scored 50-45 Edgar.

 lol at this

50-45 Edgar is so unbelievably bad I cannot believe someone would get paid to score fights.

It was a close competitive fight, Edgar absolutely did not win every round...hell I don't think he won any of the first 3.

Is this true? Or are you just making a joke? I don't remember the judges names from the fight.

dude, you suck as a judge, you should have scored it 4 rounds to 1 for Edgar like the other 2 judges

lol at you fools trying to make this guy the scapegoat and reason your hero is 15-6-1
