So... Kill the coal industry!? That will go far to helping curb unemployment. Especially in the low-skill labor pool.
Why do Labor Unions continue to support the Dems!?
(Ok, the thread title is a little over the top, but still...)

President Obama is expected to announce on Monday an Environmental Protection Agency regulation to cut carbon pollution from the nation's 600 coal-fired power plants, in a speech that government analysts in Beijing, Brussels and beyond will scrutinize to determine how serious the president is about fighting global warming.
The regulation will be Mr. Obama's most forceful effort to reverse 20 years of relative inaction on climate change by the United States, which has stood as the greatest obstacle to international efforts to slow the rise of heat-trapping gases from burning coal and oil that scientists say cause warming.
The president had tried, without success, to move a climate change bill through Congress in his first term, and such legislation would now stand no chance of getting past the resistance of Republican lawmakers who question the science of climate change. So Mr. Obama is taking a controversial step: He is using his executive authority under the 1970 Clean Air Act to issue an E.P.A. regulation taking aim at coal-fired power plants, the nation's largest source of carbon pollution.

Well coal is pretty horrible for the environment.
But who cares about that part right?
I couldn't care about what the bill is about ... frankly cleaning up coal wouldn't be a bad thing (and my livelihood litterally depends on coal plants .. )
The fact that he's saying "fuck you, I do what I want!" to America with another executive order is fucking bullshit.
It's ok the cost will be passed along to consumers
The fuck am I supposed to BBQ with now?
We should all buy electric powered cars!
Smh. Do these fucks have half a clue?
Mihow -Nuclear is also sort of a slippery slope.RdotC - Well coal is pretty horrible for the environment.

might I suggest calling your congressperson and telling them to open up nuclear power options for the next 50 years
also : United States, which has stood as the greatest obstacle to international efforts to slow the rise of heat-trapping gases from burning coal and oil that scientists say cause warming.
that's the most absurd thing I have ever read. developing countries are rightfully using the cheapest, dirtiest and fastest kind of energy they can ... so they can you know develop
If we could develop a way to properly contain or get rid of the negative effects of when things go wrong, I would be totally behind it.
As is, it takes one mistake to ruin an area forever.
I think we should be putting more money into developing green energy and perfecting nuclear.

"Let's fight the joke that is global warming by fucking the already cash-strapped American consumer! YEAH!"-Barry O.
Whether you buy into man made climate change or not, the substantial negative health effects from using coal as an energy source seems a bit outdated considering our options at this point.
Let's burn rocks to turns lights on.
Seems like a good time to switch to natural gas to me.
I come from at least 4 generations of coal miners. Fuck coal at this point in time. It's just not making a whole lot of sense these days.
People have forgotten about things like acid rain that put sulfuric acid into our atmosphere from burning coal. This was a big part of the original clean air initiatives.
Maybe some successful method of massive underground storage of carbon waste from coal might make some sense, and that is being attempted.
In fact, fuck fossil fuel at this point in time. We need to get away from that as a fuel ASAP - but as was said, it's cheap and the people in power making money from it want to stay in power.
I wish. Obama loves coal he campaigned on "clean" coal. Coal is the most dirty energy out there and we use tons of it. The sooner we stop burning coal the better.
Getting off coal is a good thing
Isaac298 - Getting off coal is a good thing
Getting off oil would be better
Bad news for all the fellas married to coal burners on this very forum.

I suggest ignoring Mihow because he is either an idiot or a paid shill.
Nuclear power is no longer viable. It is becoming more expensive versus the alternatives every year.
Mihow is a confirmed coal burner.
just sell the coal to China, they love the pollution
