I don't understand some people's obsession with Ken Shamrock when so many people are more deserving. Honestly, his best attributes are how he looks (markets himself) and his strength, not his technique. He does not have a high level of skill in boxing, thai boxing, wrestling, or jiujitsu, but he remains popular. Strange.
I've never figured it out either.
Watch UFC 1 and they treat him like a HUGE celebrity, even after Royce schools him. After the fight they interview Ken and not Royce.....try to figure that one out.
Juice and hype.
Fan base determines profits and profits determine the direction of the
sport....sadly.
IMO and MO only, he has always been overated.
He looks like what laymen expect a grappler to look like. His name is easy to remember, without unnecessary syllables. He appeals to the statistically significant demographic which favors shaved chests, bling, and vests without shirts underneath. Women want to be him, and men want to be with him.
good posts

LMAO great post. ;-)
Anybody remember his visit to Machado Torrance circa 1994..................
actually no. I think I recall that the Machados wouldn't train him, since he was likely to fight Royce again or another Gracie
He rolled with them and was outclassed.
Maybe Shamrock is the new UFC gatekeeper? the stateside matsui?
