Oculus quest 2

Stea1th -

So my boy convinced me to get one, he was going on about how it was sooo amazing. I had a GEARVR that i would drop my phone in it, but aside from some shitty games the only thing that i really liked was the movie theater but the screen door effect was terrible.

I was in microcenter the other day and i said fuck it, they had 1 left in stock and i grabbed it.

Well well well...the quest 2 is a whole different beast. I hadn't used a VR setup since 2015 with the gear so its had a lot of time to get better.

First impression, blown away with the controls and how accurate they are. VERY repsonsive, and as far as i can tell pretty much 1 to 1 in movement.  The screen quality has gotton WAYYYY better...while there is still a screen door effect, it's miles ahead of what it was and honestly you kinda get past it in games. It's still a bit low quality to use it for movie watching as the quality isn't mind blowing yet but passable i guess.

For games...it really is the next level for immerision. Now, the quest is stand alone so the games it can play is obviously gonna be some what limited, but it does have it's own fun games. So far the ones i've enjoyed...

Beat Saber--fun music game, decent work out if you swing it hard enough to be honest, it got my heart going.

Superhot - also fun and a decent movement game, i feel this type of game has the potential for some realstic matrix moments. It runs on basically a phone, so graphics are super dumbed down but the mechanics are there and are fun as hell.

I loaded up doom 3, it's a modded game but even so fun and if you look doom  it's actually really well done. One hand controls the flash light the other the gun.

Now, big boy games...

Half-Life: Alyx is BY FAR, the best polished VR game. Graphics look amazing, the world is great, the mechanics work really good and just for VR experience, I hope this is where games are going. It's so wierd, i can't explain it, but it really makes you feel like you are inside the game. It's so much different than looking on a flat service and playing. I know the game would be the same, but the experience makes it feel so much more real.

Boneworks - simple VR game, also has decent graphics, mechanics are good but not as good as alyx but similar. I haven't played much as i grabbed alyx just recently because it went on sale. The potential for games with this type of engine is there.

on the side note, porn is also next level. It almost feels like cheating, also gives a surreal feel. Nothing like watching it on a screen, watching porn in VR is something crazy.  There was one scene where the bitch is sucking you off, and comes up to you and wispers in your hear, i swear to god i felt like i was cheating.  I highely recommend it, you can get some scenes online but the better quality ones are better to experience.

I wanna side load stuff but I'm scared of bricking the headset, the doom stuff I want and the Pokémon game looks amazing. The amount of sideload games is nuts.

You aren't doing anything other than copying some files to the headset, i don't see how you can brick it. The instructions are easy, took all of 10 min to do.

Oh, and virtual desktop is fucking awesome. I play tethered so its not a huge issue for me, but the other day i used it wireless and i was super impressed how well it worked. I was expecting a delay to be game breaking, but it ran rather well. I was impressed how good it worked.

Yeah I'm gunna do it. It just makes me nervous cause I've been modding consoles all my life but I love this fucking thing so much I don't wanna fuck it up haha.

Get the elite strap..... It really makes it feel like you aren't wearing it.

When I got it a months ago I got lucky with a target email and got it and it blew me away and I've tried all the VRs I went back and bought another one as a gift for my friend. I have bought so many games the back log is getting a little much. Best money I've ever spent for a system. Absolutely amazing..... The hand tracking is really trippy...... I'm gunna get the app where can can map your house for shit popping out and shooting and hiding and shit.

I love beat saber cause I have it on PSVR but I wanna be able to load custom songs so I'm gunna sideload it this week.

Anyone else get the urge to poop when using VR?

at first I thought it was because I was moving around but it happens if I sit and use it too. Just now I finished watching some VR YouTube videos and got urge to poop. I thought it was random but there is definitely something because this has happen multiple times now.

Officially modded........ Just when I thought it couldn't get any better..... Wow....

Ttt for modded game suggestions, I’ve got a bunch so far but most are very glitchy, gunna put in the doom games with the brutal doom mod soon but it’s a bunch of shit you have to do.

Also fuck the new forum

SALE!

Hope it works. Use the code mobile25 to get 25% off purchase in occulus app store today. Gotta buy through mobile device (according to what I read). I gotta buy something, not sure if I want anything right now. These sales don’t come often.

Too bad the code only works once. I’m still new to the Quest. I bought Population One. Anyone here play? Add me up, Deep_In_Ur_Mom. I’m still learning so I suck. I usually play late at night (PST), but would rather roll with some OGers than some little kids.

Hey another code, OCULUS30 try it w caps as well as lower. Heard this worked for some, another one time code but a good one if it works.

Gave in to “I expect you to die” been looking at it for a few years, finally giving it a go.

How’s that football? Anyone play?

I got the football game. It’s good for a quick play and is pretty fun. I haven’t messed around with it too much. You basically jump into a 2 minute drill to win the game and keep going until you lose. I’ve been able to beat 2 or 3 teams in a row. It feels great to connect on a bomb for the walk off TD, but it’s tough.

Funny as I was going to start this exact thread today. My nephew came over yesterday and I got to check out the Oculus. Fucking crazy shit.

Now my kid wants one. Posting in this thread to read through the OGs opinions and reviews.

I’m replying to my old name on my new name haha

There is so many side quest games it’s insane… I just paid for doom 2 on steam to use questzdoom and I’m hoping blood the old school doom rip off works with it cause bloom is a such a great game… It’s pretty much a Phantasm rip off

I worth every fucking penny brother

Real. Vr fishing is fucking awesome, bought it cause it’s so high rated and all the insane shit you can do like custom music and actually have a small screen on the lake playing videos and YouTube.

Amazing

Path Of The Warrior is fuckin fun! You’re basically in a Final Fight style game punching and kicking the fuck out of a gang. Their’s weapons to use everywhere, it’s fun!

It’s streets of rage pretty much… It’s a blast!!!

Quick suggestions. “Lies beneath” is on bundle sale with “crash-land”. 39$ for the pair, usually $50. Not much of a deal, but…

Lies beneath has an awesome style I didn’t expect. A shock horror/comic book vibe that ive never seen (at least not this impressive) before.

Crash-land feels like an arcade survival, somewhat similar to Nazi zombies cod, just on a big lunar landscape.

Just waiting for last beneath to go on sale for a while because the graphics looks so cool. I am very impressed with a little play time. Crash land got most of my night though, very addicting. Really enjoyed it.

I’ve had my VR legs for years and it’s starting to get hard for something to blow me away at this point…saying that I I can’t fucking WAIT for resident evil 4 VR no date yet but I’m guessing October
