The oilers with Gretzky, Coffey, Messier, Kurri, Fuhr, Anderson, Lowe etc were ridiculous and all of those guys were within a couple of years age wise. If they could have kept them together imagine how many cups they’d have.
That Oiler team always had a lot of glue guys too Linsmen, Mactavish, etc. Anderson and Tikkenen were both extremely clutch playoff performers.
Also, they seemed to be getting better as time went on. That ‘88 team was probably the best of the bunch even without Coffey. Their D-Core were all big and nasty.
Gretzky/Kurri/Tikkenen is probably the best line ever put together and you then roll out Messier/Anderson/Simpson as your second line. That’s ridiculous.
