I'm trying to figure out what the majority of the left thinks on this topic because I seem to be getting conflicting answers.
Does systemic racism actually require racist intent at all, or do you consider any disparate impact that negatively effects a defined protected group systemic racism?
Is disparity itself proof of systemic racism in your mind? I'm trying to understand how you guys think when it comes to disparity.
This would relate to systemic sexism or systemic homophobia as well.
There are many influences other than race that impact disparity.
But this is the OG, so race is definitely the way to go!
Malvert the Janitor - There are many influences other than race that impact disparity. This is what I believe, and I think large disparity between groups is almost always explainable without hate... but in trying to figure out how the left uses this term, I came across conflicting claims about intent.
But this is the OG, so race is definitely the way to go!
I'm very curious about the answer to this.

Anybody?
First off I'm not left leaning but relevant answers I have heard from others on the left is systemic does not require actual racism but can still exist.... Example. Black police officer the treats blacks the same as his white co workers.
You guys sure love playing politics.
My left nut leans right.
dabigchet - No, no intent required.Anyone ever wake up feeling left and then lay down at night with a bit of a right lean?
If you believe that systemic racism, sexism, etc exists does that make you automatically leftwing?

Yes there is IMO
Can't elaborate now but school district redrawing always comes to mind (my dad works with the NAACP a lot on this)
Interesting topic of discussion
Although it may not be intentional
Clarence Parents - You guys sure love playing politics.This isn't a politics question. It's a logic/ethics question.
