Og mechanics

My brakes had seized, I left the fucker sit all winter. I managed to get them loose with a vinegar soak and a little torque on the car, but now I have my rotors and brake pads to change.

I've never done this shit before (take away my man card now) but I want to learn. How do you tell if your rotor is done, mine is pretty rusted. When I drive and apply brakes, theyre bumpy, almost like a really weak abs.

I'd like to change my brake pads too it's relatively easy from what I've heard. Its a shit box 2004 cavalier that I'd rather not pay a mechanic to work on. I got it for 200 bucks and there are no other problems with the car. Anyone got some tips on how to tell if my rotor is shot, how to release my brakes etc.

I'm new to this shit but I'll pick up quick. Thanks in advance Phone Post 3.0

Google it and look at the videos, it's really easy friend. And I would replace the rotors if it at a long time. Phone Post 3.0

Should be about an hour to an hour and a half job. Very simple.

Look up advance auto promo codes if theres one in your area becuase theres always some that are like 40 bucks off 100 and more. Phone Post 3.0

Look for high spots to and warping on them. That will cause vibrations. Also check for stress cracks in them (will look like little splits) Phone Post 3.0

Never_rolled - Do you have tools, jack and stands? Phone Post 3.0
I've got everything I need, air drill, got a wire brush attachment, got a jack too Phone Post 3.0

Just buy new rotors. Phone Post 3.0

You can get your rotors resurfaced for cheap, I think it's $15 here in CA. Phone Post 3.0

You have to take them off and bring them to a Napa or O'rielly's auto parts store. Phone Post 3.0

Rotors are cheap just buy new ones especially is you seized up the old ones. You're car will stop like new and it's stupid fucking easy to replace them Phone Post 3.0

Rockauto.com has great prices, otherwise I believe some of the major auto parts chains will allow you to borrow tools
