OGPL Week 5: Predictions!!!

OGPL 2004 Regular Season: OFFICIAL RULES

1. The OGPL is open to all members of the OG. However, to be counted in the official overall standings from week-to-week, players must submit a pick for each game, every week of the regular season.

2. All prediction picks must be placed 1 hour prior to the first game of each week to be counted. The only exception to this rule will be in the event of Thursday night games, such as the NFL Season Opener and Thanksgiving, where a separate post for these games will be accepted.

2a. As a precaution against the loss data that we experienced during mid-season last year, all OGPL players are advised to email their final selections to: khun.kao@verizon.net Again, all final prediction picks must be sent 1 hour before the first weekend kickoff. The 'Thursday exception' applies to emails as well. (please remember to include your screen-name in your email!)

3. All prediction picks must be submitted on the official "OGPL Week [#]: Predictions!!!" thread.

4. If you submit prediction picks, but wish to change your mind before kickoff on Sunday, please edit your original post. This will minimize any confusion! Again, the only exception to this rule will be in the event of a Thursday night game, where separate posts are not only excepted, but encouraged. (If you edit your predictions, please resend your entire predicion list via email to be properly tallied!)

5. Though not required, posting short explanations for your prediction picks is encouraged. Humor is a plus!

6. Also encouraged is making predictions on upsets, routs, turnovers, or any other "games within the game" that you can think of.

7. The game is played for bragging rights only! No prizes will "officially" be awarded. (though we're hoping to eventually change this rule)

8. Each weeks results will be listed in two separate posts (on the same thread). Weekly Results & Overall Standings. All O.G. members are eligible to compete for the weekly results, but only O.G. members who participate each and every game, each and every week will be tallied in the overall standings.

9. All players are responsible for keeping track of their predictions and standings as a safety measure. We're only human and mistakes are sometimes made. Though there are no prizes at stake, we do not wish to 'gyp' anyone of their legitimate standings in this contest.

10. HAVE FUN!

WEEK 5

Sunday, Oct. 10

Cleveland at Pittsburgh, 1:00 pm

Detroit at Atlanta, 1:00 pm

Miami at New England, 1:00 pm

Minnesota at Houston, 1:00 pm

N.Y. Giants at Dallas, 1:00 pm

Oakland at Indianapolis, 1:00 pm

Tampa Bay at New Orleans, 1:00 pm

Buffalo at N.Y. Jets, 4:05 pm

Jacksonville at San Diego, 4:05 pm

Arizona at San Francisco, 4:15 pm

Carolina at Denver, 4:15 pm

St. Louis at Seattle, 4:15 pm

Baltimore at Washington, 8:30 pm

Monday, Oct. 11

Tennessee at Green Bay, 9:00 pm

(Open date: Chicago, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Philadelphia)

Cleveland at Pittsburgh: Personally, I'd like to see the Browns win this one, but home field goes to the Steelers. PICK: Pittsburgh

Detroit at Atlanta: Another case where I'd like to see the visiting team win. Lions are my fave underdog this year (and the last 2 years), but the Falcons look to be too much. PICK: Atlanta

Miami at New England: Wouldn't it be a hoot if the 'Fin's pull this upset? The 'Fins are the only team with a perfect season record (1972). They are also the only team that beat the '85 Chicago Bears, preventing them from achieving the perfect season as well. Will the football gods smile upon them favorably this week? As much as I can see it happening, I'm going with the smart pick... PICK: New England

Minnesota at Houston: Houston is going to make this interesting, I expect. They have the ability to ruin anyones day. And they have homefield advantage. Again, taking the smart pick... PICK: Minnesota

N.Y. Giants at Dallas: Nothing smart about this pick. I wish BOTH teams could lose! Do you think maybe they'll tie? PICK: N.Y. Giants

Oakland at Indianapolis: No contest at all. PICK: Indianapolis

Tampa Bay at New Orleans: Which team is stinking up the joint more this season? PICK: Tampa Bay

Buffalo at N.Y. Jets: 3-0 vs 0-3. Another example where I'd like to pick the underdog, but have to choose the smart pick. PICK: N.Y. Jets

Jacksonville at San Diego: The BOLTS look like they might have a little bit of a charge building up. But I think Jacksonville is the better team. PICK: Jacksonville

Arizona at San Francisco: The Cards win game #2 of the season!!!! The Niners really suck this year.... PICK: Arizona

Carolina at Denver: Post Super Bowl Blues have set in to the Panthers franchise, and Denver is looking to finally get over the hump and back to the championships. PICK: Denver

St. Louis at Seattle: A head-to-head battle of who I feel are the leagues most egotistical coaches. Holmgren vs. Martz. PICK: Seattle

Baltimore at Washington: Face it. The 'Skins aren't good yet. They are slow to learn their roles, they don't trust one another, and Gibbs is still feeling his way around after a long time away from the game. Baltimore is the smart choice here, but being a homer, its 'Skins all the way! PICK: Washington Redskins!!!!

Tennessee at Green Bay: I am really torn about this game. Both teams are better, more talented than their records indicate. Both are still potential playoff contenders, but they need to get their act together quickly. Gotta go with Favre regaining his Lambeau Magic... (unless he does not play) PICK: Green Bay
