Not too many guys finish opponents anymore like Sambo expert Mikhail Illoukhine did. At 27-11-1, Mikhail finished an amazing 85% of his opponents by submission. Not only this Mikhail fought 5 times in one night on two occasions, winning the first tournament all by submission and subbing all his opponents in the second one before losing in the finals.
In his career he has fought the likes of Rampage, Randy Couture, TK, Babalu, Carlos Barreto, Igor Vovchanchyn, Bobby Hoffman, Ricardo Morais, Tiyoshi Tamura and Justin McCully. Mikhail was a very tough competitor with wins over Couture, TK and Vovchanchyn.
Even back then a 85% finsih rate by submission is very, very good.

Not one of his finer subs but a big win over a super tough opponent.
ttt
its even more impressive when you consider what he looks like!!
I was a big fan of his back in the day. If he'd had more exposure to the more controlled style of the Brazilians he could've been what Vovchanchyn became.

yes, he would be just like Igor
except from another country, using a different strategy, different body type and different attributes
