This is gonna be a tough one to figure out because I don’t have a ton of info I remember about it. Early UFC’s probably frank shamrock era, it might have actually been him but I can’t remember.
One guy had the other’s back but didn’t have his hooks in or at least both of them, so the fighter with his back taken reached down and grabbed the leg of other fighter and got a kneebar. In the interview he said he just saw the leg and decided to go for it.
I know it’s not a lot of information, but I know there’s some guys on here that are like encylopedia’s. I think the guy that got the kneebar was a known guy, I just can’t remember who or what fight, I’m guessing around 185lbs.
Horn was like a BJJ blue belt then I think?. Horn a cpl years later would have absolutely dominated Frank. Frank was a great fighter, a superb athlete, one of the best we’ve seen at being able to damage guys from any position, and a strong submission guy, but against BJJ guys his weaknesses on the ground with positions really showed.
Didn’t renzo sweep frank into side control before the illegal knee?
Frank was a fucking beast and if he had some Eric Paulson type dude back then he would have been even more dominant. His scrambles were great and he used his good submission and later his “new (er)” striking after training with Maurice smith against the wrestler mma guys of his day. I still remember him fucking up John lober in the ufc. Think that was a rematch too?
Whambo - Horn was like a BJJ blue belt then I think?. Horn a cpl years later would have absolutely dominated Frank. But it goes both ways, Frank got a lot better after that fight as well, especially with his striking.
