Give him some more time. It's always easier to get work as an actor that is not a far stretch from who you are. Some people never quite break that mold, but at least they're working. Eventually, as he's more in demand, he'll be able to pick and choose a little more. I'm absolutely sure he has more range than the parts you mentioned above. Of course, they do pay the bills.
Was Oleg in the Russian military when they invaded Afgan? The man had done a lot, that's for sure. UFC 6 is one that I will always remember, they dramatic win over tank. Lol, good stuff...
