Because Canada ought to have faced the 6 seed, but the 11th seed won the game. The bracket is set...it doesn't go to "highest seed plays lowest seed" in each round. Winner of 6 and 11 was always playing Canada and winner of 7 and 10 was always playing USA

It's really fucking stupid that the teams don't re-seed after the first wave of elimination games. Sweden should get the lowest remaining seed, US the 2nd lowest, etc. Completely retarded IMO. Plus now Canada gets a cakewalk into the next round vs the US.
Sweden got the top seed due to their 3 regulations being worth 9 pts. The US had 2 regulation wins & an OT win, 8 pts.

The issue is if Quick pushed the net off intentionally. At the least, it should've been a penalty
Truthfully though, it's not teh end of the world to play that extra game. It's not going to overly fatigue any team, and it gives them more time to gel. Canada had to qualify in Vancouver, and that helped them get their shit sorted out
