On Kneekicks and kneebars

If I kick your knee and break it I can disable you for the fight, and therefore the UG wants it to be illegal

But I can snap your arm like a twig no qualms with that, or tear every ligament in your knee and possibly end your career that way, again no qualms with that

I can also viciously knee you in the head, possibly killing you actually if you were to suffer brain damage or bleeding no qualms about that

But don't dare use some Martial art-karate-side kick??

Seriously explain the diff to me in a BAD kneebar and a knee kick???

If you can blind someone w/a punch to the eye,why not allow eye pokes as well?

easedel - You have the choice of tapping to a knee bar. You really don't have that option when someone is trying to make you look like a flamingo

I usually stay out of these arguments cause the macho guys are going to just accuse you of trying to water down the sport blah blah blah, but seriously why can people not see the difference between striking a joint versus applying pressure to a joint in a way that allows a person to tap. It's not the same but I never do a good job of arguing it so F it.

Its the same reason you can choke the throat but not strike it.

Thats it.

I have no problem with them in mma,it's a good strike.

the real question is that had anyone other than jones done them, would we be having the same discussion?

Haha, good call!

I STILL don't understand the hate for Jones. I think he's awesome. (no homo)

Yes. This thread is created everytime this technique is used Phone Post

Let's just have a bunch of Shogun's and Patrick Cote's fighting eachother.

What does that mean???

LOL. Wasa-B just made me have a major case of deja vu. WTF!?!

But to address the question. Can anyone name a single instance when these kicks have injured a fighter or ended their career in mma? Nope? How 'bout in savate where the techniques are not only legal the fighters throw them while wearing shoes? Don't know? Okay then, STFU faggots!!

Savate is for french faggots.

And it is MUCH older than MMA.

Why dont we compare Krav Maga "rules" while we are at it?

And yet unitard-wearing French faggots throw/land these kicks without incident or whining for bannings. That should tell you something about the faggotry of mma.tv fans complaining about them thread after thread every time their fighter(aka hero and reason for living) is 'victimized' by them because they don't know the basic/fundamental defense.

There are only a few fighters that used that kick regularly in MMA over the years. I think most fighters don't use it because they know the damage that can be done.

Last time I rough-counted, there were like 6-8 fighters that have used them(might be wrong though), not to mention the countless savateurs who've used them since what, the early 1800s...and yet they're still around and no mma injuries have been reported. So, what is the argument for them being dangerous/injury prone when it hasn't happened yet??

Tapping might work but then you have guys who hold chokes and holds way past the bell and aren't punished enough to discourage them from doing so

plus its no guarantee that things wont tear or break if its slapped on hard and fast

I can see the difference I also know I stopped training cuz a guy slapped on a knee bar and then instead of going straight he was kinda sloppy and fell to the side a bit.

He slapped it on hard and fast and I tapped and still tore Meniscus and ACL with some damage to the MCL as well.
