On who would beat Brock.

I see a lot of posts on people who would "beat Brock" either standing or in the same GNP position.

What people forget is that in order to land the shot that hurt Brock and lead to the GNP, Carwin had to stuff Lesnars take downs and get back to his feet from one of them. Who is going to do that?

Is 220lb non-wrestler Fedor going to stuff a Brock TD? Does anyone here honestly believe this? Does ANYONE think Fedors take down defense is good enough to compensate not only for the 60 lb weight differential, but to stop a former NCAA champion wrestler?

The same can be asked about Overeem. Does he have the sprawl to stop a Brock take down? His sprawl has been fantastic, but if a D2 champ had trouble, then so will he. Ubereem is the best bet.

Barnett. Same question regarding TD defense. He also doesn't have the power of Carwin. He is decent off his back however, but if Brock plays the same conservative game as he did against Mir, Josh would be in trouble.

JDS? Does he have the grappling? Does he have the sprawl?

Cain does have the wrestling, as much if not more than Carwin did, but Brock still took Shane down AND he is short on size.

Fedor nuthuggers and the Brock haters need to get some perspective. To beat Brock you need deadly KO power and stellar take down defense. Even so, as we saw tonight, that only takes you so far.

Look how many people Fedor has Zulu'd you have to give him the Striking Power advantage.

Carwin just Zulu'd him and had him running away, Brock would be to busy getting Zulu'd to shoot.

Carwin had to stuff that TD to Zulu him, and even so he couldn't finish.

If that beating Carwin put on him didn't knock him out, than it's safe to say a desperation shot (which Brock goes for whenever he's rocked) is not out of the question.

Carwin landed what he did because he had top notch defensive wrestling to save him, and was a huge man. Both of which caused Lesnar to pick his shots.

Brock could sprint across the cage and double Fedor, and Fedor wouldn't be able to do a whole lot about it. He doesn't have the size or the wrestling.

Also, Barnett got taken down by Cro-cop...so the chances of a sprawl and brawl clinic from him are slim.

Fedor has great Take down defense you ever think Fedor has been taken down because he knows he's good off his back.

What exactly would Fedor train for with a fight against Brock

Yes that's right SPRAWLING that is the only way Brock could beat Fedor is by Taking him down and lay n pray.

Kind of a simple strategy, sprawl and never let the take down.

It would be smart for Fedor to try and bring in some Olympic wrestlers, Russia does have some freaks.

Olympic wrestlers > D1 WWE star

Fedor does not have a sprawl within any reach of Lesnar to begin with. He could train for the next five years and still not have the sprawl to stop Brock.

His take down defense is mediocre at best. It might become "good" through training, maybe even "great" but it still will never be sufficient to stop a 280 lb D1 wrestling champ. Never. It is average, probably will remain average and even if it gets better than average it still will not be enough.

He will never come close on a technical wrestling level, giving up 60 lbs just makes it ten times worse.

Remember with that 280lbs Brock is slower than Fedor, a lot slower.

He's still pretty damn fast, and once he grabs ahold of him, he's taking him down.

Not true at all, Brock is equally as fast if not faster, he is stronger and a better wrestler.

Brock would finish Fedor.

Carwin glanced a punch off Lesnar's head which allowed Shane to shrug off that first TD, Fedor wouldn't have missed that punch.

Shane stopped it with good wrestling, not the punch. And Fedor wings his shots, they can be accurate, but mostly they're wild.

Wild but not (often) telegraphed though.

i think Brock could beat any hw except overeem, fedor, valasquez, JDS and maybe Barnett and Werdum . any others it could go either way (but as we see in MMA often, theres always surprises).

brock is only going to get better though. ive been a brock hater in the past but he is growing on me more since 116. he has shown a lot more respect in the past and its good to see that.

True, still, their accuracy is mediocre. He's no Anderson Silva.

Everyone was asking what would happen when Brock got clipped. Well, we got the answer; he survives. As ugly as it was at least it wasnt against a tire salesman in his 33rd fight, and Shane wont be dropping off the top ten list anytime soon.
