one judge gave the 5th to Ben.. WTF?!

Just heard on the post-fight scrum video that one of the judges gave the 5th round to Benson.   How in the hell?  Seriously, what the hell was that guy watching?

I don't understand how anyone could give the 5th round to Benson. Phone Post 3.0

Gil shut him down plain and simple.

Fuckin this!

The best he had was 10-10 but Gil coming forward without fail looking for the KO with headshots and landing six of them, the hardest shots of the round did NOT lose that round.

1,2 & 5 for Gil and I was happy Junkie backed me TFU again.

Wait a minute, one scored round 4 for Melendez??? It's official, they are just flipping coins.

I dont think the 2nd is a bad call,

I had bendo winning 2 3 and 4

and he clearly won the striking

To me rounds 1 and 4 were the only non debatable rounds. 1 for Melendez and 4 for Henderson.

To me it should have came down to how you scored the 2nd round. Every other round had a clear winner in my eyes.

It seems like a lot of people here actually gave Ben the 5th as well. Anyone willing to explain how that's possible? Gil chased him down and landed every significant strike if the round. If Dereck Clearly scores that round properly we have a new champ. I feel gutted for Melendez he deserved that belt.

You watched the fight though right? Scoring a round doesn't solely come down to numbers and strike totals. Not all strikes are equal. There's something called ring control and significant strikes. Gil had both of them in the 5th and FightMetric's little score sheet doesn't illustrate that.

therealeags - I worked for fightmetric. Don't judge who won off those numbers. You should be looking at who landed the cleaner more effective shots, which Gil clearly did. Benson sure did land a lot of leg kicks, but they did squat in the end. Gil was moving great in the 5th backing Benson up cutting him off landing really hard solid clean shots...while Benson circled away constantly and used leg kicks.
When you base your opinion on some guy with a remote counting significant strikes by fightmetric standards, you are just ignoring what actually went down.
Let me ask you this...did Bensons leg kicks make Gils brain rattle? No?
I bet Gils solid shots to Bens face did.

FightMetric stats can be so deceiving. It is a GREAT tool for fight analysis but in no way is it proof of who won a round/fight

I had Gil winning.. oh well
