On MMAWeekly's list of medical suspensions from UFC 47, all they have for Tito is "-Tito Ortiz is medically suspended for six weeks after being knocked out and suffering facial lacerations "
Not to stir up more argument, but it seems like they typically go overboard on demanding checks for anything that might conceivably be injured, but here there is no mention at all of a possible eye injury.
For example, "Tiki Ghosn is medically suspended for six months unless a doctor clears his "possible nasal fracture"
-If Tiki Ghosn is cleared by a doctor, he will still be medically suspended for six weeks due to a laceration on the side of his nose "
I would think a possible eye injury would be much more worthy of checkout/suspension than a "laceration on the side of the nose".
THEY SHOULD MAKE THE ("ACCIDENTAL") EYE GOUGE LEGAL IF
THEY ARE NOT GOING TO PENALIZE FOR IT
I'v been eye gouged worst. That wasn't shit.
Yeah, Chojin, but you are a big time world class fighter. Tito is just starting out.
Crazy Zimmerman that is just funny shit!I think they need to check into the matter a bit more.If they find it was a poke in the eye, then suspend and declare a no contest, they can;t just let things like this happen!
Penalize him for an accident? Maybe Randleman should have been fined for slipping backstage before the fight that one time then?
Why weren't you people crying for fines and suspensions when Tito KO'd Evan Tanner via illegal headbutt? Sure it was incedental but "they can't just let things like this happen!". Bitches, get over it. The fight is over, your hero lost. He'll be back. He's still a good fighter but for fuck sake quite crying. Chuck beat his ass and no amount of whining will change that fact.
"Watching the Silva fight, the defense you used after he caught you with a lucky shot (which was a fluke, because it barely even hit you) and knocked you down, was to turn around and sprint across the cage, giving yourself time to recover and get yourself back together. It was brilliant, and worked perfect, because it froze Silva, he obviously had never seen anything like that before, and he couldn't follow up right away. It was a moment everyone watching remembers, because when you see an innovator do something new, that you know has never been done before, you just don't forget. I had always wondered why nobody had ever done that before, instead of standing in there and fighting, and acting all macho. But against Chuck, you just covered up, instead of fleeing. It was obvious you had lost eyesight, and could not see an escape route. So what else could you have done? People are just hating on you cause they're jealous, don't even listen to them. You couldn't do anything else besides cover up, because you couldn't see!! What did they want you to do, strike back!?? If you could see him to hit him, you would have got the hell outta dodge, and with that belly "The Snowman" has, he wouldn't have caught up to you until you had recovered!! So obviously, the eye poke, whether is was on purpose or not, played a huge role, and prevented you from employing the "run away and pray" defense, as I remember calling it way back when ( a variation on "lay & pray"). I recall everybody talking about "ground & pound," "sprawl & brawl," "clinchin & 2 for flinchin" and all those other terms, but they all had negativity associated with them, because they were boring. But the "run away and pray" was awesome, because it was exciting as all hell, champ!!"
LOL Big Johnson
If there was no eye gouge people would just have some other excuse to why tito lost just like the other times.
Tito Vs Mezger(Tito was just green)
Vs F.Shamrock(Tito wasn't in good condition)
Vs Couture(Tito was worn out from all the pre figh pub)
Vs Liddell(Eye Gouge)
Face it Tito lost because Liddell is the better fighter. No reason to look for excuses. That eye gouge did not leave tito in a state where he couldn't defend himself. If you take time to notice Ortiz was Blocking the angles liddell was punching from before he got tagged on the chin. So Tito's sight was not a factor. Liddells hand speed was.
I don't think that the result should be changed. Even Tito said Chuck was the better man that night.
Yeah Tito has no problem accepting the loss he's a man about it.
I'v never been a fan of Tito's style but I respect him alot. Felt bad about the fans booing him after the fight.
Ortiz vs Murray(Tito was too drunk to fight) lol
Thinking about it these excuses seem to come straight from Ortiz.
I just don't see how anyone can call for any type of penalty for an accidental eye poke. If it was intentional the sure, but I think everyone agrees it wasn't.
"And NameCaller is right on, Tito fans seem to forget about that little incident because it is so convenient."
I haven't forgot about anything and I don't whine.
No of course you don't have to, you shouldn't really even if you were serious, but to make broad generalizations based on the 6 people who makes these type of threads antagonizes the more reasonable forum members. I was just trying to point that out and avoid writing this research paper I'm supposed to be working on at the same time.

case closed! move on titophiles...
pronto is a dumb a$$.
Tito is a great fighter. However, it is unfortunate that, in his quest to shore up his own shattered ego, he decided to infer an illegal action had been made by Chuck. Unfortunate because it has fueled discussions like this one.
chuck won, tito lost, that's pretty much all there is to it.
