“Only The Shadow knows what evil lurks in the minds of men….”

This is an underrated superhero movie. I loved it as a kid. I think it was based on an old radio show, right? That would have been cool to listen to if I lived in that era

This movie is almost 27 years old. Damn

Yep.

Darkman was awesome, too.

It was a radio show in the 50's

Wasn’t it “in the hearts of men”?

I think it was in the Hearts

Really enjoyed both The Shadow and The Phantom. It’s a shame neither got a sequel. Darkman exceeded expectations as well.

Yes, it’s “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men…the shadow knows…”

The Shadow also appeared in pulp magazines in the 1930s.  The Shadow was also a huge influence on the Batman character.  Batman co-creator Bill Finger apparently loved The Shadow so much so that the very first Batman comic book story, The Case of the Chemical Syndicate, which appeared in Detective Comics no. 27 in 1939 was a direct ripoff of a Shadow story.

I didn't know it went back that far.  My mother in-law talks about that radio show as a kid and I know that was the 50's.

The old time radio show is awesome.

And Speaking of old time radio, I will go to my grave saying that the Jack Benny show was the most consistently funny show in history of comedy shows in any format any era

Rochester is black.  Maybe the first prominent black person on a show

My dad used to listen to the The Shadow on the radio as a kid. Was one of his favorites. There was one transistor radio in that East L.A. neighborhood back then, and all the  little chamacos would gather at the house of the fella who owned it and listen.

Funny story, a few of them thought the name of the character was “The ShadowNose” because of how the announcer would speak back then, and most of them had English as a second language.
