Really enjoyed both The Shadow and The Phantom. It’s a shame neither got a sequel. Darkman exceeded expectations as well.

Yes, it’s "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men…the shadow knows…"

VTFU.

OP had it slightly wrong, good looking out man.

And some episodes of Suspense and lights out will scare shit out of you lying in bed at night with headphones on

The Shadow episode called “The Creeper” will, after all these years scare the shit out of you if you listen to it in the right frame of mind.

Always thought The Shadow could have been on the level of Batman Begins.

And even when I saw The Phantom when it was originally released, I thought you could have basically made it into Black Panther.

Loved to listen to the radio show on long hauls back in the day

you know they got retro radio programming right?

now I only know since the 80s of course.

Don’t even remember the movie, but bootlegs of old time radio & stand up comedy are what ultimately led me into my chosen profession, & The Shadow was the biggest part of that.

I am a big fan of OTR, in particular old Horror shows - Suspense,  Lights Out, Quiet Please etc

^^I came to Lights Out via the Cosby routine, as it wasn’t carried by the OTR syndicator I’d been buying from.

I guess I’d already been too deep into TZ by that time to get sucked into it. Also, I couldn’t find many back then (early 1980s).

^have you heard Quiet, Please? Its from the same guy who did Lights out.. The writing really stands out to me from the other of the era..

Try 'The Thing On The Fourble Board for an example.

I was just talking about this story last night with my wife..

Always loved The Shadow. Quite a few differences between radio and pulp versions. Liked the radio but prefer the written simply because the format allowed for more complex stories. I once had several ‘70s reprints of the original stories but only one still exists. If I can find out among my junk I’ll post a pic of the cover.

Saw that James Patterson has written some rip-off of The Shadow where he’s been in some sort of suspension for 150 years and awakens in the world of the 2080s. Probably sucks but I’ll read it when it comes out in pb out of sheer curiosity.

I thought this was a thread about Carl Jung and his view on our shadow self
