The awaited confrontation between Rafael Rebello of ATT and Marcos Galvao of Nova Uniao, who were verbally agreed to fight on the 1st of March in WEC 39 will have to wait. Rebello, who signed with the WEC yesterday, informed that his new opponent is Kenji Osawa, who has fought in the WEC on two occasions has one tie and one defeat in the organization.

"I was really surprised with the change, because the fight with Galvao is promising (for the fans). But, we are employees of the WEC and what they determine is what should be done. Galvao was a little tougher than Kenji, even though the Japanese fighter is well known in Japan. My only complaint is that my purse for the fight with Galvao was better than the fight with Kenji." said Rebello.

Rafael Rebello is a product of the renowned American Top Team, living in Miami, the fighter kept himself busy at the  North American MMA scene, where he has reached a 5-2 record. Two time Brazilian Nationals and State of Rio de Janeiro champion of Jiu-Jitsu, Rebello will make his debut in the WEC 39 against Osawa, an athlete with more than 20 fights on his record and experience in the cage (even though it was not so successful) of the organization which is the top for the lightweights at the moment.

WEC 38 (01/25) did not happen and the following card, that will take place in Texas is taking shape. After the confirmation that Marcos Galvao would not confront Rafael Rebello of ATT in the event on the March 1st, Galvao exclusively confirmed that he will now be facing American Damacio Page in WEC 39.

"The news of the change in my adversary will not effect any of my plans. I think that the fight against Damacio is better in terms of marketing, Rafael will just be debuting." Said Loro, "As I told you, now it's about giving a show and this is what I am going to do, if it's Rafael or Damacio Page, it doesn't matter to me, I am determined to go after the redemption."

The redemption that Galvao refers to come from his last two fights in two separate events, first the defeat to knockout by Brian Bowles in WEC 31 and after the tie in Shooto (Shooto Tradition 3) against Masakatu Ueda, in a fight for the belt in the Japanese organization.

Page who has two fights in the WEC and a record of 10-4, is an athlete who transitioned between the lightweight and featherweights categories, with fights against the same Bowles and Genki Sudo on his record.

"The fact that he comes from two categories above my weight indicates that he knows how to cut weight for the weigh-ins and come in strong on the day of the fight. I will give it everything to come out on top." Finished the Nova Uniao member who kept himself training and did not rest during the end of the year parties.
