UFC light heavyweight Ovince St. Preux spoke with MMAFighting ahead of his fight with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of UFC Fight Night 56: Shogun vs. St. Preux in Uberlândia, Brazil, on Saturday, live on UFC FIght Pass.

OSP was asked if he thought Shogun's cardio was a weakness; his reply was candid.
"I think it's a weakness for everybody," said OSP to MMAFighting. "Shogun is the type of fighter, when he goes out, he is going to try to take off your head. And the thing about doing that is, there is a lot of output. And with that output you tend to waste a lot of energy."
OSP, after weeks of media duties, garbled a reply that could turn into a UG saying.
"My thing is, just smart a fight fight," explained St. Preux. "I'm not going to fight his fight. I'm not going to get into a slugfest with him. Because that is where he does most of his damage at.
"But (Shogun's cardio) is neither here nor there. With this climate, I might be in a little bit of trouble with my cardio. But I've been feeling good thus far. If the fight goes standing up, I feel good. If it goes to the cage, I feel good. If it goes to the ground, I feel good."
OSP was asked how he planned to neutralize Shogun's attack.
Just fighting my fight," he replied. "Of course everybody is going to have confidence in knocking somebody out. He has knockouts himself, too, as I do. I can say the same thing for me, he can knock me out, I can knock him out. I think I have more weapons than he does. Plus, when it comes to the ground game, I'm really good at neutralizing people. Hopefully when he locks up with me, he'll realize how strong I am, too."
"I think my wrestling is a little better than his. I have been working on mine a lot... He's been in the game so long he's a tad bit slower. I wouldn't say slower, but he used to throw high kicks, and he doesn't throw high kicks any more. He throws a lot of body kicks.
"I'm not going to lie, his kicks are serious. But he's one of those guys that walks forward and stands in front of you."
What do you think UG? If Shogun stands in front of OSP and starts to swing, who falls?
