Out-Striking Frankie Edgar

"he is never going to be a big draw such as Anderson Silva or his predecessor, BJ Penn were"

Silva isn't exactly what you would call a big draw.

 Bumpage!

Getting outside an opponent is an underappreciated art in MMA. In addition to putting you in better position for strikes it puts you in a better wrestling position.

I found this when I began training wresting. Had no experience at all but could stifle some of the younger guys by circling out and trying to get a slight angle.

Great article Phone Post

 Bump

great post. the problem i see with a gameplan that includes lots of legkicks is that unlike a kickboxing match and a kickboxing/boxing foe, edgar is an excellent wrestler who could take you down. there are few guys who have good enough a standup game to best his standup who also have the tdd to avoid getting wrestle fucked.

The retard is strong on this one. Phone Post

Edgar leaves his right hand low and usually uses a combination of footwork, anticipation, and head movement to avoid getting hit.  The problem that kept occuring with Gray was his left hook while moving forward neutralized Frankie's defenses to make contact and even after eating several lefts I still don't think Frankie kept that right hand up...If I'm Ben I'm leaping in with left hooks from the opening bell...just a thought
