Unless Minotauro Nogueira is the champ, Alistair would walk through any UFC HW in under a minute.
Minotauro is the only guy that would beat Overeem.
He would fail piss test, though...
Unless he was fighting Chack Lidell.

THe UFC could just buy Kharitonov off with a box of donuts to knocked Bloatereem out again.

Unfortunately all the muscles and swelling don't seem to have improved his chin any.
overeem would man handle brock. inb4 redneck pro wrastlin fans rage.
orcus - Unfortunately all the muscles and swelling don't seem to have improved his chin any.
When anyone in the UFC exhibits Badr's standup ability I'll worry about one of them KO'ing Alistar.
Sure, Carwin and Lesnar have huge power but they're also shit strikers.
Herring In A Fur Coat - There are at least 5 UFC HW I would pick to beat Overeem.
Really? Who are the 5 you'd pick? (You had to know this was coming)
On a side note, Overeem is a much better fighter at heavyweight than he was at 205. I think he was draining himself far too much to make that weight. His chin has held up much better at heavyweight against top level strikers. He got dropped by Badr Hari but didn't get full on knocked out. You're kidding yourself if you think more than a handful of heavyweights could've taken that last head kick without going lights out. Even his stamina has seemed better.
It actually reminds me a lot of Oscar De La Hoya when he was first coming up. He drained himself at to make 130 and as a result he got dropped a few times. A lot of people forget that most thought he had a weak chin early in his career. As he moved up in weight his chin more than held up and was considered a strength rather than a weakness.
I think a lot of you are judging Alistair based on how he looked in Pride. He's a different fighter now. I agree with the thread starter. I would pick Alistair over anyone in the world other than Fedor and maybe Nog. Btw, he would murder Sergei if they fought again.

Agreed, I cant support you on this one MKOA, my fren.
Not a wrestling fanatic, never watched a wrestling match in my life, I've always been into real sports.
That said, Brock would eat Overeem like Chinese food and be hungry again within an hour.

Name them ? ? ?
Keep in mind, this is the same IDIOT who ranked Ray Mercer #14 top HW in the world above Sergei k, Yvel, rizzo, monson, etc...
overeem's ground game is legit; he submitted all his oppenets when he won the ADCC trials in europe.
guys like cain would get dominated by overeem.
BJJkilla - overeem's ground game is legit; he submitted all his oppenets when he won the ADCC trials in europe.
Have you watched those 2005 trial matches?
by the way, Mustapha Al-Turk won the ADCC european championships that year.

How would he eat him? Goes to the ground he'd get subbed; standing he'd get KOed.
Herring In A Fur Coat -
Nog, Lesnar, Carwin, Cain, Dos Santos.
Nog , I'll give you.
All four HW fighters you named are over rated / untested and have absolutely nothing for Alistair.
Alistair KO's Brown Pride
Alistair KO's or Gulline's Brock, whatever he wants.
Alistair KO's Dos Santos
Alistair KO's Carwin
I'll give you Nog though....
^^Agreed. I think Alistair may be the worst possible matchup for Lesner, stylistically that is.
Alistair is going to have trouble with top of the food chain submission guys who have the ability to get him to the ground. Guys like Nog, Fedor, or maybe even Werdum still, who beat him a few years back. Guys like Cain and Carwin who seem to have fallen in love with their standup would be in a world of hurt. Dos Santos would be interesting but I don't think he has the strength to deal with Overeem.

Absolutely correct.
Carwin / Cain are doing the Rashad & Sherk thing. Where they are wrestlers who learn 1 or 2 boxing combos and fall in love with stand up. Then they get a KO and their confidence in their ability sky rockets, but their lack of stand up remains. Then they go against a legit striker (in this case Alistair) and they get Knock the fuck back to the 2nd grade.
Rashad's KO over Liddell shot his confidence through the roof only to get humbled by Lyoto , a legit striker.
Sean Sherk decided he wanted to be a boxer to beat BJ Penn, he ate a nice flying knee.
Carwin / Cain are no different.
wtf makes you think Cain Velasquez would stand and bang with Overeem when he didn't even do it with Ben Rothwell who is a far worse striker?
Nog would certainly beat Overeem.
But Nog would beat anyone alive except Fedor.
W/Cain and Carwin I really dont think either of them have established themselves yet as the type of fighters that could beat someone as dangerous as Overeem.
I am not sold yet on how good either of them are.Standing they will get lit up by Overeem, and Overeem isnt gonna be the type of guy you can just ground and pound anymore, and his submission game is better than either of them.
Mir and Kongo would lose badly to Overeem.
Gonzaga matches up well vs. Overeem, but Gonzaga always finds a way to lose when it really matters.
Dos Santos would be an interesting opponent.
Lesnar/Overeem is a pick em' fight IMO.
Suprisingly enough,I think Big Country has a chance because
He seems like a smart fighter and has an ability to keep a fight in the range he wants to,ad he seems to be skilled in all areas.
