Palhares asks for release from WSOF contract

<p>Rousimar Palhares is one of the most controversial fighters in MMA right now and has been in more than one incident inside the cage that resulted in punishment from a promoter or athletic commission. Most recently he was accused of eye gouging Jake Shields in their fight for WSOF and was subsequently suspended by the promotion pending a hearing with the NSAC. Now Palhares would just like to be released from his contract with the WSOF:</p>
"Toquinho", who submitted both Shields and Fitch under the WSOF banner, is not interested in fighting for the promotion anymore.
"They didn’t want to talk about anything before the commission’s hearing, but I’m not interested in fighting for them," he said. "I asked to be released from my contract or fire me, but they won’t. I wanted them to release me so I can go my way, I don’t want to be part of this organization anymore. They didn’t appreciate me.
"My contract was over 20 days after my last fight, I asked them to release me, and they didn’t because they must know I don’t want to work for them anymore. Honestly, I don’t know what else they expect from me."
