Pan Am Games Judo

I have chance to go see the preliminaries of the Pan Am Games Judo tournament but I can only go one day. Any advice on the best weight classes ad ny standouts I should keep my eye out for?

What is the specific event? I did not see any Pan Am game on the IJF Calendar. There is Pan American Toronto Canada from the judo Canada website and Pan American Open on the USA Judo website in El Savador.

In general I like the 73K, 81k, 90k, 100k weight classes the best. 81k is the toughest bracket on the planet usually. Standouts depends on who is fighting/where. If it was an IJF event they would preview the event fighters/weight class.

Pan American games are every 4 years the year before the Olympics Phone Post 3.0

Ok thanks

thanks Jayflo145. Then what Pan Am game is he taking about? The last IJF Pan Am game was in Edmonton, Canada in April. I watched the matches from their JudoCanada website.

Here is the link to this year's Pan American Games.

Here is the link to the qualification system. You will need to scroll down to Pan American Games and open the PDF's.

If I could only go to one event, I would go to Sunday's event because I would want to watch Marti Malloy. If I wanted to see the most competitive divisions in the PJC, I would go to Monday's events as -81kg and -90kg are competing. I If you are Canadian, Monday is probably the best day as well because of Valois-Fortier competing in -81kg.  If you want to watch Kayla, she is on Tuesday.

Edit. I just looked at the IJF WRL and the Continental Championships in April were the point event. Makes me think the Pan American Games will not count towards qualification. Not sure if the players listed above will be there.

Thanks OCJTC- your posts are best at explaining what is happening in judo.

Just listened to an interview Marti Malloy did today. It is on her Facebook page and here is the direct link.

Marti stated that even though there are no qualification points for the Pan American Games she will be competing due to the USOC considering medal count a priority this year at the event. My guess is that all USOC funded players will need to be there.

Just checked my e-mail and USA Judo sent out a blast which announces the Pan American Games team. I was correct that the main 3 USOC funded athletes are going to be competing for the USA. For some reason, there are no representatives at -48kg and -60kg.

Thanks for the links. You keep this forum up to date with important information. I watched Travis comments from his twitter account on his seminar cancellations especially his take on the DC letter that kind of went after him for it. I felt so sorry for him as it seems his head injury has really affected his game. Now I understand why his reactions were so slow when he fought at the last IJF event. He explained his trip to Japan to train and try to get back to form. His injuries are really taking its toll on him. Hope for the best.

Man injures will ruin everything. I can be discouraging.

There are 7/8 Gold Medal matches on youTube. Including Marti's, Kayla's and 90K Gold Gonzalez(CUB) vs Camilo(BRA). The language I think is in Portuguese.
