Pat Miletich explains WAMMA

Hi Folks....last night was another fun show.  Thanks to all that listened in.  We had Pat Miletich on to talk about the book  "BLOOD in the CAGE", WAMMA, and how LEE MURRAY KO'd TITO ORTIZ in London.

We had Thomas Gerbasi from UFC.COM and Rhett Bateman from MMAMadness.com to help us pick the winners for UFC 95.

HERE's the SHOW:

 Just so I don't forget....hosted by Hector Castro....now with MMAMadness.com

Pat was a great guest...He explained that London story in great detail...I originally thought it went down differently...

I probably wouldn't talk about it that much if you ever plan on visiting London....those cats that were associated with Lee are supposed to be pretty bad ass.

There are a lot of misconceptions about WAMMA. They are great for the sport, period.

It's interesting to see how the UFC opens up to WAMMA...

ttt

 good stuff

The Hectorious GNP - It's interesting to see how the UFC opens up to WAMMA...

The UFC will never open up to WAMMA because Dana White sees them for exactly what they are.

Oddly enough though, it seems you don't.

WAMMA is trying to be the sanctioning body of TRUE world title fights, not just "champion of the UFC," "Champion of Strikeforce" fights, etc. They are trying to give you, the fan, the fights you want to see and won't shut up about. And they're trying to do it without "owning" fighters like organizations do.

Sure, bring up the alphabet soup shit all you want, but what do you think having a champ of the UFC, Strikeforce, WEC, EliteXC, KOTC, DREAM does? WAMMA takes the rankings based off of each org and determines who should have the right to fight for the claim of "I am the best in the WORLD."

And they don't ask shit from the fighters or the org.

So tell me, Oh Uninformed One, what is it exactly that "WAMMA is" besides "The Answer"???

I hear what you are saying....it's just hard to unify all of them when mainstream America sees the UFC as having the best fighters.

You're a joke and your constant shilling for WAMMA is just as laughable. If WAMMA is trying to be "End All Be All", why don't Aoki, GSP, A. Silva or Evans have their WAMMA belts yet?? If WAMMA is concerned, like they say they are, about fighters being more important than the promotions, than tell me why they haven't given out these belts yet?? WAMMA is only interested in promoting it's own agenda. Their problem is that nobody gives 2 shits about them.

Like Pat said...The UFC may not be interested right now but if WAMMA is able to get other promotions on board...Then the UFC will no choice to participate. But that may be like three years from now...possibly more.

Well, since you seem to be so on top of things, I'm sure you know the answer to the question you're posing.

First of all, the UFC doesn't allow it's fighters to participate in WAMMA sanctioned bouts. So why would the UFC let its fighters wear and claim them? They wouldn't! Therefore, the WAMMA belt--and spreading the WAMMA name--would go to waste.

Secondly, since WAMMA requires their belt holders to defend the title a certain number of times per designated time period, AND the UFC won't let their fighters participate, then they're just as good as being stripped of the belt...so why go through all the song and dance?

Thirdly, why, when WAMMA is trying to convince the UFC of their value and trying to get them to participate in true world MMA rankings, would WAMMA give up their ONLY leverage in the situation, especially if the UFC has no intention of following through?

It'd be like a girlfriend and boyfriend breaking up and the ONLY leverage the girl has to get the guy back is her incredible bedroom skills....but she gives it up for free to him in a "friends with benefits" situation.

So why would the boyfriend come back? Well, he wouldn't!

In a similar, but thankfully different, way, the same can be said for the WAMMA/UFC situation.

Now that is a funny comparision
