Loooooooooooool.. Are you crazy the Ref had to jump in and open his hands literally of the heel hook.
That was less than 1 second after the ref got there. How quickly is he supposed to let go?

There is 2.5 or 3 seconds between fitchs tap and the Ref opening up his arms. And imagine if the ref did step in? by the way Harris clearly ignored fitch's tap.

But all in all Good job by the Ref

You aren't suggesting he let go when Fitch taps are you? This isn't a friendly roll at the gym. He lets go when the ref tells him to let go which he did.

The stupidity being brought out by this submission is insane. You seriously think he should let go because Fitch tapped?

Boom.

Don't blame Palhares for only letting go upon ref intervention, blame the fighters who've despicably abused the sport and its rule by fake tapping and using that to their advantage.

The thing about Palhares, he doesn't go for the tap, he tries to destroy your limbs. This isn't a sport to him, he totally commits to those subs and you just can't put the brakes on in an instant. Phone Post 3.0

By itself this wouldn't be a big deal (and maybe it still isn't) but given his history, this is yet another instance of Palhares holding on just a little too long for my liking. Phone Post 3.0

Fighters ignore taps all the time and hold subs until the red gets there. The difference is we don't normally see the other fighter frantically tapping and wincing in big pain. Phone Post 3.0

ref shouldnt have to pry his hands off him every time

You just can't deny the TAP rule which also comes with great sportsmanship. Harris could have broken his knee and long term damage.

You can't be serious. The fighters are told at the rules meeting that you don't stop until the ref tells you to. You would have a ton of fake tappers otherwise. Look at Rousey vs Sarah D'Alelio. Rousey let go when she thought her opponent verbally submitted only to have D'Alelio deny it. Rousey broke the arm her next opponent.

Once again this is not a friendly roll at the gym. It's not the fighter's job to stop the fight, its the ref's

Fuck that guy. He is a leg specialist and his technique is AMAZING. But!!! Fitch tapped 9times, and this inbred keeps extending. Fuck this guy, I hope he gets hit by a bus, lives, is physically and mentally capable of living the rest of his life in comfort and he receives a huge settlement so he doesn't have to work, but the injury prevents him from any form of competition ever again. What are you expecting him to do? Let go as soon as he feels the tap? And if the ref doesn't see it and Fitch keeps fighting, then what? It's Palhares fault for letting go before the ref stopped it. He stopped when he was supposed to, when the ref told him to.

lol. This is not the ultimate death championship. TAP or verbally tap comes with sportsmanship.

Stop encouraging people to break limbs

I didn't notice Fitch dying, did you?

These are the rules, I didn't make then up. If you have a problem with the official rules you should stop watching the sport and pick up something more gentle like knitting.

The thing is, anyone who has done jujitsu knows, is not just about how long the sub is held. It's also about how much pressure is being applied to the joint.

It's about his intention. And his intention is to FUCK YOUR LEG UP! And if he happens to win the progress, it's a bonus. Those kinds of injuries will take away the lively hood of a fighter no problem. Phone Post 3.0

Fitch should of tapped faster. Phone Post 3.0

If Palhares eases up on the pressure Fitch could escape. If the ref doesn't see the tap and Fitch doesn't admit to it Palhares gets screwed out of a sub win.

Look at Matt Lindland vs Bustamante for an example of what happens when you don't let the ref break it up.
