They should start penalizing for doing that, it would curb the problem significantly and would stop Jon Jones and Travis from doing it at will with no repercussions. 
Agreed. I don't hate Travis but I found it disturbing in the post-fight pressure when he took no responsibility and said "it's just part of the game". He's responsible for his weapons.
I've always thought it was cheap. It stops people from trying to close the distance because the open hand is always getting into the eyes
Take a point away at the first eye poke and DQ on the second. If it ends in an eye poke, automatic DQ. That should close people's hands
I agree, eye pokes can affect the results of the fight way to much, and potentially the person on the receiving end of the pokes career. It's not as simple as getting hit in the balls , it was cool to see Matt actually get a moment after being poked last night at least. You can tell Travis didn't feel bad about it because each time off the poke when Matt winced he would rush him as if he was looking to capitalize on it. Fuck eyepokes,MMA is not worth losing a fucking eye over , dudes need to stop that shit, and you would also think UFC would really be putting some time into solving the issue.
