pay and not get credit???

Hey, would u be pissed off???

If u were going to an academy for awhile and u decided to put ur time and effort into helping 2 fighters train from your hometown which is an hr. away and they were representing the school. On top of the the instructor tells you that you have to pay dues to train there and the fighters don't because they are representing the school. Even though you were the one helping them train for the fight and all the instructor was doing was letting them represent the school so he could increase enrollement. And On top of that after the 2 fights u were given no credit or anything helping them train.

Would you be pissed off???
I no where as good as the instructor but i did help them prepare for the fight and better there conditioning holding the pads for them, rolling, among other things..

I was just annoyed by these turn of events..

Were you the instructor for these two?

Was the training you provided the deciding factor in why they won?

If yes to those to questions then yes, you should be pissed.

Otherwise no.

were you training them or helping them train. If the latter you received a learning experience.

If you put more time into HELPING THEM (doing the instructor's job) than you did in getting your own training then yes, you should be pissed.

It boils down to thisssssss. If you are paying to train, that's exactly what you should be doing, training, not teaching, TRAINING.

"If u were going to an academy for awhile and u decided"

u decided.....

Usually people want to help fighters from their gym be best prepared for their upcoming fights.Makes it look better for the school and everyone involved the more wins that they have..

no i was not the instructor of the two. We all shared in our little way.. I just found it irritating that the guy that owned the bjj academy wanted me to pay a visiting fee. When i helped those two guys get conditioned for there upcoming fight. And when they won I was not given for helping them train or anything.

What i boils down to is i think some people are just greedy and always wanting to make a buck that they do not deserve.

as long as he told you the first time you walked in and gave you a choice.the first day should be free and then it was your choice

All depends on what's up.

IF you were helping train his guys, you should not be charged.

IF you were just training, you should be charged.

IF you were doing both, you should get a percentage off for the time you assisted in their training vs. the training you received.

Been there before. I was going to a school for a couple of months, already had the knowledge and was able to hold my own with just about anyone they had. Couple of months into it I was used for training their guys for upcoming fights and stuff, this was freakin' years and years ago.

I NEVER received the support when I was wanting to take a fight or train but if they had guys training, everyone had to support them.

Never received credit, never got paid, it never went both ways.

I feel your pain with this.

Next time say "NO!"

"IF you were helping train his guys, you should not be charged. "

it was exactly that. I just got annoyed when the instructor asked me for money or was complaining why i was not paying after i was helping his students out.

Then I would have told him how it was. Give him a bill in return if he has an issue with it.

I just did that with a guy building my building for me. He didn't bring his crew, just him, to build my building, I had to help him because 1 man obviously couldn't do it. I paid him what we agreed on then gave him my bill for labor.

No, I don't think it is a matter of offering free gym memberships to ANYONE that helps fighters. But, if he's asking him specifically to assist in training the fighters then no, he should not be charging him to train there.

No matter what the circumstances were, you should pay for your time at the gym because it was understood from the get-go that you were paying to train there. When you were approached about assisting the fighters with their training, THAT is when you should have discussed a change in your monthly dues, not after the fact.

So while I do have sympathy for the fact that you feel as though you were getting the shaft, the fact still remains that you owe your dues for that period of time. Never assume anything! You "assumed" that the head instructor would be a really cool, understanding guy and give you a free pass because you were helping out with some of his guys. Reality is that the guy is trying to run a business.

Then the reality also is, HE needs to train HIS guys.

Did the Instructor need you or did you just want to help? Does the instructor have a training program for the fighters already esablished? I've had fighters not show up when they're suppose to be training for a fight, bring in 1 of my other clients to hold mits/pads off schedule and not exactly high level work, so does this mean the other client should be entitled to train for free. Anyway the fighter lost, didn't follow the fight plan or schedule. Also don't forget who pays the Rent, Electrical, Phones and other bills to keep the gym open.
Try to work something out with him going forward....

Basically, my opinion is that if the gym owner doesnt pay you when you teach, then dont do it.

monthly dues were just visiting from out of town.. i was training them in my hometown where we were all from which is a few hrs away. I just found i rude asking for money when we only visited 5 times and I did most if not almost all of there training and those guys were representing the school. and not getting credit after they one would irritated anyone. since u are the one that prepared them for the fight and conditioned there sorry asses from the beginning.
