"As you may be aware, our very own PST*Joker has made assertions on BASH that the MP AC130 and several other MW2 features were influenced (without any recognition) by him and other PC modders.
A few hours ago, I saw a Tweet go out from a community member suggesting that Joker issue a takedown notice of Infinity Ward's AC130 MP vid on YouTube.
"@pstjoker I just thought you should send youtube a DMCA take down notice regarding the #MW2 AC130 video. See how youtube responds." (@therealrudedog)
I think Joker took up the idea and I can only assume he's more surprised than anyone that a few minutes ago YouTube yanked IW's AC130 video right off IW's official channel.
AC130 vid removed
I've mentioned before that MW2 has been like a marriage breakup between PC gamers and IW. Now, this has all the earmarks of a messy divorce.
By the way, I certainly don't envy Fourzerotwo in any of this -- as if he doesn't have enough on his hands. All of this seems very unfortunate all the way round.
Just a few minutes ago I spoke to PST*Joker and apparently he did make the takedown claim and YouTube did take down the original official video from their IW channel. Joker forwarded this reply from IW's community manager:
"Really? Copyright infringment claim? :sigh:" - Fourzerotwo DM on Twitter"

The Rat -Steve W - lol@them getting all butthurt. It's just a game fuck.
Bro, its not just a game. Thats the whole point. Having no dedicated servers rips the heart out of the modding community, the clan community, the websites, the war scene, etc, etc. PC gaming is very different to console gaming.
So true. Console gamers wont understand but most PC games get a dedicated following of modders that keep a game alive for years.
People still play games that game out in the 1990's because modders have improved the game beyond what the developers planned. I still play Silent Hunter 3 which came out in 2003. With the release of GWX 3.0 that game is 5 times better then the one that was released in 2003. Same goes with all the Total War games. Those games are pretty bland on their own, but the mods have made them masterpieces.
The main reason I still prefer PC over console is because of mods.
maybe game makers don't want you modding their shit?
Fuck INFINTY WARD.
Greedy mofos, they can kiss my arse.
Not getting a $$$ from me, but I will D/l a pirated version just to play the Single player.
bruddahoodaman - maybe game makers don't want you modding their shit?
i doubt that since most companies release modding tools to make it easier to mod their games.
Some companies do but some don't. Some don't like mods because it may mean players are less likely to buy an expansion pack or DLC.
IMO Dragon Age is onto a winner, let all the PC modders make loads of mods and then release them all commercially to the XBOX and PS3 versions.
I'm sure some L33t H@xor out there will decompile and reverse engineer MW2 and have a dedicated server option within a few weeks of release.

lol. true.
anyone who only played Oblivion on console missed out on SO much content that was available to the PC version. There was literally hundreds of hours of extra gaming.
I understand the modders complaints....but why the fuck would any developer give a shit about you if you are going to pull childish shit like this?
Its like negotiating with terrorists at this point. Can't give in, or it encourages other mouthbreathers to do the same stupid shit whenever they want to whine about lack of features or balance changes.
Bravo idiots!

yeah i agree, its not gonna get them anywhere. because CoD MW2 is on consoles, the PC gamers dont have the pull they would have if it was PC exclusive. Unfortunately this is the direction many companies are going as its more profitable to dumb down games and feed them to the masses on a console.

Yup...Carmack at id already stated that Rage probably won't have dedicated servers either.
It just doubles the matchmaking development costs to do both. And why bother with the expense when the PC market is a fraction of the console market?
And this way they can charge for DLC map-packs...from a business standpoint its a no-brainer.
Well, looks like the boycott is going to fail in terms of sales impact. Infinity Ward's decisions may very well have lead to an increase in sales.
I don't understand this sense of entitlement that the mod community has. They support the game, yes. They generate their own content, yes. But this is done neither as some contract with the developer nor for any altruistic intent. They make mods to scratch their own itch. IW makes games in return for money. Period.
Infinity Ward has absolutely no obligation to you except to provide you with the goods and/or services you have paid for. If they choose not to provide a service, then you simply have the right not to buy it. They are not indebted to you for life just because you happen to latch onto one of their titles. This is a different game with different features and quite possibly a different market. Actively attacking this release because it doesn't contain the features you want is about as logical as attacking Madden 2010 for its lack of guns.
If the mod community is significant enough to support, then someone will cater to it. That's the beauty of capitalism. Get over yourselves. You look like babies.
