People that live on welfare

My lazy sister lives in public housing. She pays 400 per month for housing that would rent for 1500 per month. She gets about 200 per month income. No food stamps no free cereal for her daughter. Its not a glamorous life. But that said i think shes a lazy bum. Shes 30 and fully capable of working. Bit since shes nevet bothered learning a skill she thinks thos is the only way shed be able to have an apartment because mcdonalds wouldnt pay her enough to hold a 1500 per months aparyment. Thats for surw.

Im just a bear so i get confused sometimes. By welfare do you mean the poor people who get money and benefits from the government, or the rich people and corporations that get money and benefits from the government?

Move along bear. If hes too fancy to associate with poor people, the hes definitely too fancy to associate with someone who's main form of currency is salmon and trout!

You know the goverment shouldnt be given money to poor people. They should keep it for politicians and for rich people.

I started working when I was 10.  While most kids played during the summers I'd be working in a steel shop. At 16 I was diagnosed major depression, anxiety, phycosis and Catatonic. I had to drop out senior year but still worked got ged and even went to college.  Until I was 30 I'm 40 now have kids and been on SSDI the past 4 years I do  get food stamps and subsidized housing but everyday is a struggle for me mentally and financially.  I do odd jobs to make ends meet and hope to someday join the workforce again.  It's just 2020 has left me in a rut as far as going back to school and working.  I'm honestly just burnt out.

You should not have revealed that here.

You dont have to be on welfare to get free lunch, at least not in NY.

It all depended on household income, which wasnt a very low standard.

Knew a bunch of kids who were better off that signed up for it but this was almost 20 years ago lol

My brother is a chef and started 4 businesses around cooking.  He was doing well until right before Covid.  He took some big risks that in any other environment would seem like no brainers.   Covid has essentially crushed him.  He's on food stamps, living off savings and doing shit at night like "canning", essentially stealing recyclable material out of residential bins at night and turning them in at recycling facilities.  He makes about $100 a night doing that.

He's a great person.  Volunteers time to cook at shelters and the like on weekends.

Not everyone on assistance is a shit bag.

Most people use it as intended & get off it within short order.

My dad ended up this way. He's 67 and ended up broke due to disability. Now he basically gets free healthcare, food stamps and pays like 250/month for a one bedroom apartment in senior section 8 housing, basically the same cost in hoa/property tax if he owned it. It's not a bad place, not nice but in the small town he was born in. Never in a million years when I was a kid would I think my father would end up that way. We grew up upper middle >

yep, it could happen to anyone and why I advocate the things I do.....saving/investing/buying-payoff-house when times are good.....but MOST OGs will go buy MORE GUN$, Pelotons, and I-things instead of listen to me all while they speak down to God's POOR children until they themselves are making a GFM thread!

There is a general lack of empathy

On behalf of the people providing handouts for those able but unwilling to work? Or you mean those able but unwilling to work are showing a lack of empathy for those whose money they are taking by government force?

Rich people are usually getting taxes they paid back. Poor people dont pay taxes so thats true welfare. Not that they dont need or deserve it.

Why do the poor not simply stop being poor?

Welfare system is extremely abused here in the usa. I know people who are proud to be on it. Makes me sick. On the other hand, some people have really fallen on hard times and need the help for a short duration to get back on their feet. There should be a better vetting process. Drug screenings, money management supervision , and an end date for it. They all should seek a special council or counseler to determine who can and can't have it. This is coming from a guy who has observed the system in play and work my ass off for the little I have. My opinions are not facts just observations over 39 years. So take them with a grain of salt folks.

I am thankful I am not on welfare and own a home on the coast.   Now I gotta go bust some bum villages before they get to close to me!

I would prefer that my UPSCALE Property Taxes be used for COMPASSIONATE social programs like Universal HealthCare and caring for the Homeless instead of being used on L/R political fighting impeachments & witch-hunts, WAR mongering, CORPORATE BAILOUTS, and so on.......

Come to Canada dats how we do.

I fucked a girl on welfare for a couple years. It was gross. Not her.

At the end of every month she would try to give me pork tenderloin and such. Because she had to spend it or she'd lose it.

Fuck you leftist retards.

My dad is on welfare and I believe social security. He also lives on the res in South Dakota and works as a dishwasher in the casino.

His housing is paid by the tribe, and he has a certain size house because he’s got my brother, his woman and her seven kids there (5 of the kids are from other dudes).

The tribe gives my dad a monthly check for I think $400 - that’s casino money. There’s also money at Christmas and money on his birthday.

It is the shittiest existence imaginable, but it’s one of his own making. He was an activist with AIM when I was born, but squandered his life after that.

I went to a college in east Los Angeles, i had a very smart fellow student in my and she was a coworker as well. She was somewhat pretty and hot body. We got to chatting and she lived in the ghetto section 8 housing in the neighborhood. I could tell she was embarrassed about it and I played it off as I had a buddy who lived there and both good people.

I'd never have known they're were in poverty if I hadn't learned where they lived. I know they went on to bigger better things in life and left that life. The point is I avoided that of people like they're the plague and those 2 changed my mind.

I work the inner city I heard a girl (Late 20s-early 30s) say "My mother never had a job, why would I?". She explained the system, how she purposely waited X amount of time to have kids so the money would last longer, she kept her place nice, had a pretty nice car too...trust they aren't living that bad

Not allowed to have the father at home if she wants to keep that money though.

It's sad, and it's destroying the black community.

I know people on welfare who drive better cars than I do and eat better every night than I do. They openly admit to having kids on purpose to get more money. All they do all day is sit at home and smoke weed while playing video games. Half the time they don't even take care of the kids. They get dropped off at the grandmother's house.
