People that live on welfare

Yamie Jagerbomb -

Personally, I don't associate with anybody that lives this life

What exactly is this life? Section 8 housing? Money cards for food that they sell for .50 on the dollar?

What is day to day life like?  We know children get school benefits such as breakfast and lunch at school.  Also, their college is our paid for.  They get medical too right?

Whats the downside? No home ownership? Shitty car? No real vacations?

Vacations are something they talk about, like unicorns.  These are people that grew up with public assistance living conditions.  It is all they know.  They live in bad neighborhoods, eat bad food, have poor boundaries and surround themselves with bad people.  Their bad upbringings and bad choices lead to a n barrage of crises of major obstacles.  These people live in survival mode.  When you live like that, surviving is what matters.  Going to trade school or college isn’t a consideration.  They work the jobs they grew up around.  Landscaping, cleaning houses, roofing, low level tourism jobs like hotel janitors.  Maybe the occasional warehouse.  They break a lot of dumb laws like suspended licenses due to not renewing, they get into the system, and once you are in it’s impossible to get out because they don’t keep up with fines, deadlines, and court dates.  Things pile on.  They take it out on their own kids and start whole new generation on the same path they walked.  Obviously substance abuse comes in often.  Heroin is WAY cheaper than pills.  Drugs in general are cheap.  Alcohol is dirt cheap.  Child welfare is often involved, and their scrutiny often turns up even more stuff that law enforcement missed.

good times.  It’s awful.  It’s not simple laziness.

I certainly don't require the government money to survive but hell I'm gonna take it if I'm entitled to it.

Paid enough into the system, which is fucked, so I will take back out of it too.

I'm in the UK so it's a different to you guys in the US I'm assuming.

I work the inner city I heard a girl (Late 20s-early 30s) say "My mother never had a job, why would I?". She explained the system, how she purposely waited X amount of time to have kids so the money would last longer, she kept her place nice, had a pretty nice car too...trust they aren't living that bad

Not allowed to have the father at home if she wants to keep that money though.

It's sad, and it's destroying the black community.

My dad was a small town post master.  You can tell a lot about someone just by their mail, and he overheard all kinds of conversations over the years....... One of the most disturbing was a group of older ladies talking about how it was time for teenaged family members to step up and start having babies so they could get their checks. It can definitely be abused and become a way of life for some people.

the entitlement system costs over 1 trillion per year…a good portion exists because it buys votes and keeps certain people in power while keeping others in servitude.

My dad ended up this way. He's 67 and ended up broke due to disability. Now he basically gets free healthcare, food stamps and pays like 250/month for a one bedroom apartment in senior section 8 housing, basically the same cost in hoa/property tax if he owned it. It's not a bad place, not nice but in the small town he was born in. Never in a million years when I was a kid would I think my father would end up that way. We grew up upper middle >

Sorry man. :frowning:

Is it possible to allow your father to live with you instead?  If no, why not?

Maybe you allow his father to live with you since you care so much about other people's business. Oh wait, you wouldnt associate with the likes of his father.

I'm sure all the poor folk are just super upset that they dont get the chance to associate with you.

Sounds like you're the most upset of the poor people. I considered not responding since I don't associate with people.

Or, you twit, I used the word associate becuase…drum roll…I don’t know anybody on welfare. My neighborhood has homes worth 600-900k.  My job requires one to have a college education. My family/friends are all successful. Does this offend your sensibilities too?

So far, this thread is about 50/50 on people using it properly versus those abusing it.

I suppposed one could work hard and earn a degree in something meaningless. You can’t fix stupid.

One of those retards who thinks going to college is the only way to be successful huh? Everytime you type, you look like a bigger sissy.

I run my own business. Make my own schedule. Take care of everything myself. I'm 34 years old, no debt, own my home outright, and live in the woods where I belong. Never attended a day past high school.

I also dont act like a uppity bitch and judge others for their money situation.

I wouldnt trade places with a boy like you for all the money in the world.

I think if you spend any time around section 8 housing you see that the majority of the people are poor because of their terrible life choices. Drugs/alchol are the most common issues along with mental illness. I have family members on welfare due to drug problems. The fact is if your willing to work hard its not difficult to live without welfare in America.

Then, you thought I was lying becuase I’m successful as are the people I associate with. You called me extremely rich. Once again, wrong.

Last, you’ve called me a sissy and little. I’m neither of those either. How about you just go fuck off in your little shitty house and keep my name out of your mouth.

Also, before you fuck right off, what was growing up on welfare like Kirik Jr?

Yeah. It’s a shame when people use your own words to judge you right? Whoever wouldve thought someone may use your own words against you!

You just keep getting better! Not only are you well off, but you're also big and you're tough! The OG trifecta of embellishments! Lmao

Ok well I got to go. Have a great day my tall, tough and elitist friend!

siouxNYC - My dad is on welfare and I believe social security. He also lives on the res in South Dakota and works as a dishwasher in the casino.

His housing is paid by the tribe, and he has a certain size house because he’s got my brother, his woman and her seven kids there (5 of the kids are from other dudes).

The tribe gives my dad a monthly check for I think $400 - that’s casino money. There’s also money at Christmas and money on his birthday.

It is the shittiest existence imaginable, but it’s one of his own making. He was an activist with AIM when I was born, but squandered his life after that.

You ever do a thread about your life bro? AIM and that whole scene is fascinating. I have a documentary I stole from a wildland fire buddy about when they shot the fbi agents that I’m always trying to show people lol

Also, dummy, you’re the one that called me a sissy, boy and other names. Just pointed out that I’d own you like the little bitch you are is all.  A response to your assertions genius

damn this is easy.

I know or have known a good few people on relief. The problem is they get mired in this situation where no one is working, or the work is shady af, or the work is miserable without much advancement. I really approve of the move towards making projects mixed use or whatever it's called, where there is some market rate, some subsidized. So kids can see someone with a nice car and clothes going off to work at 8 am, taking vacations, instead of overweight people in sweats shuffling around all day.

That is a good benefit, true.

Even without mixed use housing, the kids also are exposed to their teachers daily. They could learn from them too.

What I’m getting at is society keeps making excuses for everybody. Mixed use housing mostly just fucks up nice areas and the property taxes. We hope that the poor wise up, but stats show they don’t. In process, we embolden poor and hurt those that want nice things (and actually work for it).

LOL "What is the downside of living on welfare?"  Funny shit really.

Now imagine the credit card debt on top of all of that.

There are millions of absolutely worthless human beings leaching off the rest of us. Its a damn shame that the average American no longer has any shame.

Always quick to put their handout - christ almighty I heard stories about the depression from my grandparents and not a single goddamn story was a “Woe is me, I had to beg and steal to get by”. The stories were more along the lines of “I’d walk up to the feed store and offer to load grain bags and get a .25”

I always took note how they were willing to provide something of value in exchange for some money, food, medicine etc."

Why do the poor not simply stop being poor?

It would take effort!
