Fantastic knock out! A well executed spin has the potential to freeze or confuse your opponent for a split second, which is sometimes all you need. The down side, of course, is that you are quite vulnerable for a split second yourself.
For anyone who has maybe never had the opportunity to do any kind of sparring, sometimes an odd, unexpected move can fuck with you no matter how focused you are. You see it happening, you recognize that it is happening, but it's just so off putting that by the time you are reacting it can be too late!
+1 for skillet set..

Agreed. He saw it coming, but didn't have enough experience to choose the right course of action. The correct thing to do may have been to step right instead of backwards. He froze for a split second but I believe he chose the wrong defensive position/posture.
You can start to appreciate A.Silva and Machida more for their defense when you see that so often how they made the correct reactive/defensive decisions.
Machida is the only fighter I can think of that is parrying/blocking shots and then firing off his own offense while moving In towards his opponents offense. In addition he has these beautiful trips off of other peoples attacks.
Silva has a great sense of range and knows how to do minimum movement to make his opponents miss (vs Griffin).
