Pettis vs. Manzanares: Top Flyweights at RFA 7

Sergio Pettis vs. Matt Manzanares

Sergio Pettis (6-0) and Matt Manzanares (5-1) will meet in a highly-anticipated flyweight battle at RFA 7 - Thatch vs. Silva on Friday, March 22nd. The bout will be featured on the main card of RFA 7, which will take place at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, which is a suburb of Denver, Colorado.

Pettis, who is the younger brother of UFC star Anthony "Showtime" Pettis, will be dropping down to 125-pounds after making a successful RFA debut at 135-pounds in November. Pettis' bout with Jimmy Jones at RFA 4 was wildly entertaining with the younger Pettis brother cementing his Unanimous Decision victory in the third round with a flashy head kick for which he and his brother are known for landing with brutal efficiency. Pettis is a student of four-time kickboxing world champion Duke Roufus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will be venturing into enemy territory as he looks to keep his unbeaten MMA record intact.

Standing in his way will be Cheyenne, Wyoming native Matt Manzanares, who regularly trains in the Denver, Colorado area at Team Wildman. Like Pettis, Manzanares is a flashy striker. By age 14, he was competing in the Junior Olympics against boxers such as Devon Alexander and Victor Ortiz, who have formed successful pro careers. At RFA 5 in November, Manzanares picked up his first win in the RFA in spectacular fashion by knocking out Kevin Gray with a beautifully timed knee to the liver in 48 seconds. The main card of RFA 7 will be televised live on AXS TV starting at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.

Yes, he is and so is Matt. Their fight will be a classic!

Isn't Sergio 17 or 18? He'll probably have to win a couple more before getting into the UFC, especially at the rate they're cutting guys.
