<p>Most fighters are in the UFC to become a world champion. Costas Phillipou is in the UFC to make money and because he's good at it:</p>
Based out of Long Island, N.Y., Philippou says he won’t lose a minute of sleep if he someday ends his career having never fought for a world title. He understands it’s a weird stance to have as a martial artist, but that’s just the way it is.

That doesn’t mean, Philippou says, he lacks motivation to improve. Since his last fight, a unanimous decision loss to Francis Carmont at UFC 165, Philippou has worked especially hard on defensive grappling.
It's not his life huh? well hope he deals well with the upcoming loss.

what he is doing is making an excuse in case he loses...cause he knows he's facing the best comp in the UFC.....he wins...then he changes his tune....he loses....then he really never gave it his al......just a defense mech.

I watch for guys that pour their heart into it. The talented...whatever. Fuck guys that make the UFC and say that fighting aint thier life. Fuck MMA is my life and I am a nobody, never has been and never will be. I love MMA, I love reading all the drama, I love training, I love big fights, I love MMA, I love punching my friends.

Respect to Philippou for stating what he believes. I'm sure he loves to fight, loves to win, loves the competition of it all. But at the end of the day, it puts food on his table, albeit 5 star meals lol, however he may have other goals in life in which he has passion for. These men/women who step in the cage/ring/mat are just that, humans. We are free thinkers and should never mold to anyones idea of what they think we should be or do no matter what situation we find are selves in. Regardless of his comments, he will always remain a warrior if his is willing to step foot into a cage against an opponent at just as high, if not higher skill level......and this coming from a person who gives 2 shits about Philippou since he robbed Fukuda

Yeah he'll provide real well with the attitude that it doesn't matter of his ability to earn money is ended suddenly and violently. That's a real nice outlook right there
breath of fresh air to hear that, although i'm not sure how much further he can go if he's not as obsessed as these other guys. frankly i think the win over boetsch is pretty much as good as it's gonna get
