Derp. Forgot to mention we are planning for mid july. Phone Post 3.0

Most of my Family is from there.

Avoid North Charleston.

Do you want to do all the touristy shit?

Or are you looking for something a little different?

Also, how far are you willing to travel outside of Charleston to see and do stuff?

Highway 17, North and South, is dotted with cool little villages, towns, plantations, and parks; all within about an hour of Charleston. Women love plantations for some reason. I think it's because they're all secretly racist.

For Beaches, there's Folly (used to be sketchy but it's fine now), Kiawah, Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, and Seabrook. If you travel South on 17, you can hit up edisto island and check out the beach. I haven't been to Edisto in a while though.

Mt. Pleasant Traffic will be a bitch During July. If you want to miss some of it heading North, take the Mark Clark Expressway(I-526). If you do that, you'll miss some of the traffic, but not all of it. This will come in handy if you decide to go to any beach besides Kiawah and Folly.

I'll try to think of some more stuff, but when I go there, all we do is fish and visit with family.

The houses, gardens, and ground of the plantations really are beautiful, though.

And if you don't mind me asking; how old are your kids and what are they interested in?

That'll help folks give you more useful information in regard to things to see and do for them.

And the "balls being glued to your leg" comment was accurate.

Thankfully, the city sprays for mosquitoes and gnats in the City and toursity areas. If you travel to the villages and towns away from Charleston, bring some bugspray.

Take her to the beaches, Rainbow row or the Aquarium.

If she's OK on boats, you can rent kayaks, charter fishing boats, or do the harbour tours.

I spent most of my childhood vacations on the island beaches and in the creeks about 30 miles north of Charleston. It was a blast.
