I've noticed strikers like to incorporate plyometrics into their workouts. What exactly is plyometrics and can someone recommend a good routine

Plyo is a term that can be loosely applied to explosive movements (I realize that is not technical, but lets keep this basic). A good beginner program could be something like:

Rhythm skips 2x30 yards
Depth jumps 2x10 jumps
Lateral Hops 2x10 jumps each side
Medicine ball
twisting toss 2x10 throws each side

Remember to warm up, and remember that even though it might not feel like it, these take an incredible toll on your body, so twice a week is more than enough...

A good beginner program probably should not include depth jumps as they are very advanced plyometric movements.
