They may be able to squash her in judo but there's a lot of X factors in making an MMA transition as we all know. A gold medal or world championship is not automatic indicator at all.

the skill leve. in WMMA is still pretty damn low
an Olympic level athlete would probably have the best chance of success given some time sprawl training. Their athleticism alone is enough to put them in the top echelons from the get go.

Yeah but I don't think Honda was ever as large as Kayla or Gemma are.
Kayla is awesome though. Would be sweet if she came to MMA with some other girls around her size.
Kayla was 78KG = 178lbs
Honda was a weight class below that in 2008 Olympics (70KG = 154 ish), and dropped from there to 135 for MMA
She should have an MMA rematch of the girl who beat her at the olympics!!

Yeah, the only person I could see stopping Ronda is a strong high level (for female) wrestler.

I see that Honda is much leaner and seems more built in MMA today than she was in judo. 70kg/154lbs to 135lbs is a pretty significant drop.
I wonder if she did any kind of similar S&C training for her judo days and also how strong she was against her elite judo opposition? I guess you cant outmuscle someone in judo with the gi the same way you can without it?
