Post your best beef stew recipes..

Looking to make some good stew tonight. Crockpot or Dutch oven doesn't matter to me. I know someone on here has got to have a great one!

Also anyone ever used brisket in a stew? Phone Post 3.0

That sounds good. Buy some beef ribs & have them slice the "knuckle" off. Its the top part with mainly marrow, fat & a little beef in it. Will give your stew tons of flavor.

Its the part on the top:

It also makes it easier to eat the ribs when you smoke them later, makes it a cleaner cut & like I said I save the knuckles for the soup & add top round or any other stew meat.

Here's my take, I didn't have any extra meat but I did it anyway cause I was feeling sick.

I love Beef Stew.

Cubed Beef ( if you can get a filet mignon roast then cube it, it's unreal) but any stew meat will work... coat the meat with flour and brown the meat in a stockpot with a little oil... add 4-6 cups of water and half a bottle of Red wine... plus a bunch of pearl onions or a sliced onion...add salt pepper, Cayenne(if you like it hot), Season all of some kind (pappys, get it)and let simmer for at least a couple hours... then add in cubed potatoes or small whole ones, carrots, celery, peas and cook for 20-30 more... serve in bread bowl.

The flour on the meat and reduction of the wine n water make a nice thick sauce. Phone Post 3.0

I use a pressure cooker. 10 minutes for the meat and an additional 5 minutes for the vegetables. Phone Post 3.0

Blue bottle is outstanding
Seafood blend is great
The fajitas spice is really good.

They have it at Costco or smart n final in Cali, not sure where u are. Some Albertsons have it also, usually near the meat section, not in the seasoning isle Phone Post 3.0

There BBQ sauce is really good Phone Post 3.0

None of these will be as good as Dinty Moore.

I use boneless short ribs. Pretty fatty but gives good flavor.

In a good cast iron Dutch oven, brown 3 lbs of cubed short ribs in batches. Don't overcrowd. Remove and set aside. Add chopped onions, garlic and a splash of balsamic vinegar to deglaze and scrape up bits. Let cook for 5-7 minutes to soften. Add beef back. Add 1/4 flour and stir to coat. Add 2 cups red wine and 2 cups beef stock (homemade is best). And a cup of water. Add thyme, rosemary etc. bring to a boil.

Then in the oven at 325 for 2 hours.

Add potatoes and carrots. Cook for another 45 min

Nice try.

I prefer to skip the wine, and use 3 cups of water, I then turn into wine.

Use squared short ribs instead of cubed. Overcrowding is relative to how the meat feels. If you use squared meat, instead of cubed, it will be more relaxed
