PRIDE 19: Don Frye vs Ken Shamrock | Feb 24, 2002

I always got the bootlegged Japanese broadcasts.

Do these still exist anywhere on the internet?

I got the vhs copies shipped from a guy. Now that UFC owns Pride Iā€™d imagine they make it harder to find those vids hosted online.

Yea i have all the US dvds in my attic still. The Japanese versions were better cuz they showed all the entrances.

Even though your momā€™s living room is 1 storey above your bedroom, itā€™s not called an attic weirdo.

Totally. And the US versions also edited several matches from events. If itā€™s a shitty match Iā€™ll skip over it. But donā€™t take the choice out of my hands completely.

100%. It should be a crime that US fans didnt get to see the intro vid before fedor/crocop.

Didnā€™t the original VHS copies have entrances? I feel like they did.

They did

Respect the chops.

Unless you had the Japanese broadcasts you didnā€™t get every single entrance, or fight, depending on the event.

This was the first MMA fight I ever saw almost 20 years a go!

Forever cemented in my head that Pride was the superior organisation compared to the UFC.

i spoke to Don about this, fuckin terrifyingly it was about 15 years ago (its been fun fellas, have a good one) he said Ken broke both his ankles. maybe not a literal bone break, just a no-dancing physical agreement

Don has mentioned it on podcasts alot more recently.

don did say that, a few times
in kens recent book, they said that fight ruined what was left of ken. long lasting negative effects. his body was super worn before the fight, after that he was truly done.
