"Sources: ProElite working diligently towards completion of sale
December 2, 2008 by Sam Caplan
FiveOuncesOfPain.com has learned through multiple sources - all speaking on the condition of anonymity - that ProElite’s current management team is hard at work towards completing the sale of the company. Indications are that ProElite believes it could have an agreement in place prior to the Christmas holiday.
According to sources, as many as three groups are believed to be vying for ProElite. Only the identity of one of the groups is certain, with multiple sources stating that a group led by King of the Cage promoter Terry Trebilcock has made a bid.
However, Trebilcock’s group is not considered the leading contender at this date. Sources will only go so far as to describe the top contender as a company with over a billion dollars in annual gross revenue that also is a recognizable name."
Mark Cuban maybe??

Obviously YAMMA is buying them!
I have heard this rumour too. All future fights will be held on a battleship.
Steamfitter - I have heard this rumour too. All future fights will be held on a battleship.I heard it will be held in a life-size replica of Castle Greyskull.
CREzja1 - I'd be fine with Cuban acquiring the assets and creating his own league with many of the best guys as a foundation, I think it's a real possibility, HDNET could carry it and I would love it!
Sorry, but Cuban is not going to put on anymore fight shows, he's done. He'll continue airing fights put on by other promoters on HDNet, but he has no plans to do anymore live shows, himself.
I heard the buyer is considering a new revolutionary ring/cage/platform thingy.
At the risk of sounding like a CTist, it sounds like an organized "leak," with multiple anonymous sources coming to Sam Caplan simultaneously with the same story.
If I had to guess, I'd say they are trying to give Trebilcock the impression he is being out-bid to try to get him to sweeten the pot, but that's just a guess.
more of the ELITE XC dancers please!
Seriously though, if they get rid of the management team it has the chance to come back and maybe (finally) use CBS and Showtime to set up big PPV shows. Why they did not do that to begin with is beyond me.
Elite XC - Coming soon to an Indian Reservation near you.
"This has left approximately 80 fighters, who were under contract, waiting. The biggest names include Kimbo Slice, Gina Carano, Frank Shamrock, Nick Diaz, Eddie Alvarez, Scott Smith and champions Jake Shields (welterweight), Robbie Lawler (middleweight), Wilson Reis (featherweight) and Antonio Silva (heavyweight)."
Uh, Alvarez has been fighting elsewhere for a while now. Typo or am I retardo?
"who were under contract..."? And/or wasn't he non-exclusive, so perhaps they still claim some rights?
