"Profesor" title

Regarding the recent thread on the use of the term "Profesor" in addressing your instructor; Where I train, a handful of students at best and only on occasion volutarily refer to our(black belt) instructor as profesor. This is done in light heartedness, but mainly out of sincere respect for his accomplishments, teaching and analytical abilities, and finally as a salute to the Brazilian practice of the use of this title. In no way would our instructor ever ask us to call him anything but by his name. In truth he looks uncomfortable and slightly embarassed with the term "Profesor", but as I stated this is done in an occasional but always respectful and yet light-hearted manner.

Profesor is ridiculous...

Professor is ok though.
