PTP Questions

i know this has been done to death, but i had
some questions about the 5 x 5 thing....at least
how it's outlined in PTP.

went go the dragondoor forum and looked through
the saved threads here, and didn't see what i was
after.

i know this scheme is supposed to be good for
building strength, but since i can't fnd any of the
older threads with more of the details....what i was
wondering is:

are they all working sets, or do you do 2 warm-up,
3 working, etc?

how many times a week is are supposed to shoot
for doing it?

and...is it practical to do all the exercises 5x5, or is
that particular scheme intended primarily for the
squats, deads, and the like?

Are you asking about the PTP routine in particular because it's different than the standard 5x5.

5x5 is fine.

I do them for WORKING sets. I warm up on lighter weights to get to my 6x5 routine then go train on the 6x5.

I do this 3x a week on mostly all of my exercise stuff apart from wide grip chins and dips.

I also use 6x5 on my dragon flies but no my bulkoff's. I do 10x3 on that with other abb stuff.

"i know this scheme is supposed to be good for building strength"

It's good for building strength in the lifts you practice. It's not much good for building strength on the mat, other then when you're just getting strated (may be a bad time to lift so heavy anyway).

"how many times a week is are supposed to shoot for doing it?"

Pavel sez 5 or 6 for ptp.

"is it practical to do all the exercises 5x5, or is that particular scheme intended primarily for the squats, deads, and the like? "

As far as i know, PTP is just three lifts. I've seen a variety of combos tho.

daimon...i was guess i was asking about both,
thinking they were the same thing. didn't realize
they were 2 different concepts.

doug...what would be better for building strength
on the mat?

heang...why do you do 6 x 5 as opposed to 5 x 5?

Pavel's stuff is purely for training neural pathways. Wont do much for mat stuff. Doing more voluminous, more diverse workouts ma suit you better.
