Fingers forward?
Fingers pointing outwards?
Fingers pointing inwards?
Hands shoulder width apart?
Wider?
Narrower?
Elbows bending outwards or backwards?
What's considered correct form and what difference does it make? What muscles are worked?
I'm trying to attempt the 1000 press up a day challenge but can't find consistent info on what is the standard form/best press up to do without going all technical and Hindu like.
Any advice?
You're over complicating things bro! Just go up and down
Hands should be pointed toward your feet and make sure your feet ARE'NT touching the ground. That's proper technique.

Well depends on if you're doing wide arm or close arm pushups.
I think wide is more chest, while close is more tricep.
Just start with what you feel comfortable.
Obviously keep your legs and back straight like you're a lever, as some people are prone to bend at the waist or do a head bobbing motion to make it easier.
Down to 90% elbows, or whatever, and back up.
