That at least made sense as a super fight and Conor relinquished the 145 belt pretty quick as he moved to 155. Guys now want super fights when neither one of the opponents are actually stars.

Meanwhile when Aldo was on his crazy run Dana refused to let him fight Pettis unless he gave up the 145lb belt FIRST. Legit refused to let him even try to be champ champ after almost a decade of nothing but wins

I’d like to see this but let’s not pretend that Islam didn’t seek out Volk himself after beating Charles and not his fault Charles pulled out but he still hasn’t defended his title against a LW. Charles just ran thru Dariush and Gaethje is coming off 2 of his best career wins over Dustin and Fiziev showing off perhaps his best and mature game so far. Usually you fight up when you have cleared your div. I say usually but we know ufc puts money fights first (Connor didn’t defend before going up to LW).

People forget this even pro fighters turned podcasters like Josh Thompson. Also Connor refused to relinquish his FW title too even though he refused to defend it. Lol.

He’s arguably better than Khabib. You ain’t seeing Khabib head kick KO no one. But also true that Volk cleared out his division as did Jones. And let’s not forget that Islam himself sought out Volk after beating Charles. He needs a couple defenses but UFC will put together the biggest money fights.
