Question about iv hydration rule

How are they going to enforce this rule and how do they ban a possible medical therapy a fighter needs? Say a fighter cuts so much weight he really needs fluids for rehydration? Maybe he is puking and can't hold down liquids? Do they cancel or fine the opponent? Say they pass out which has happened do we withhold a therapy to help just for a silly rule? Honestly curious about the enforcement of this and how will they test and know you did use and iv?

And testing for the plastics commonly used in the iv bags themselves. Someone in cycling got popped for the plastic metabolites. Phone Post 3.0

Seems weird that plastic is being dispersed into the bloodstream. Why not just make a "healthy" or cleaner version of an IV for athletes in these situations? Phone Post 3.0

I believe you are referring to Alberto Contador who was found to have plasticisers in a blood test in 2011.
In cycling the issue isn't saline, it's autologous blood transfusions.
Plasticisers are not yet a banned substance as they are not performance enhancing so Contador was not suspended for this issue.

IV's are being sidelined because a guy could take two-three lbs of blood off to make weight only to put it back in with saline or more saved blood later.

Blood doping has led to strokes in cycling and cross country skiing. It's serious business. Phone Post 3.0

There's always a way to enforce things, the question is how hard do you want to look? The harder you look, the dirtier the sport looks to the fans, sponsors and authorities. Nobody wants that.

Look what testing did to cycling. One by one it destroyed their marketable heroes to the point sponsors are afraid to be associated with the sport or invest in their athletes. Every morning ex cyclists and fans around the world wake up in fear of hearing about past indiscretions as they are even testing old samples now.

Soccer, tennis, golf, these guys know that strict testing could destroy their sport. Every now and then they parade a sacrificial lamb in front of the world to give the semblance of transparency. Tell me an injured soccer player who wouldn't take EPO, test and hgh to get back to $100,000/week! Jose Aldo refused a test and it made world news, serena Williams locks herself into a safe room, calls the cops and its overlooked. Rory McElroy admits to putting on 6kg of muscle in 6weeks and nobody bats an eyelid.

So it comes down to how hard you want to look so kudos to UFC for doing anything at all. A death in the ring live on Fox due to a confirmed steroid user is a blow the sport might never recover from. Phone Post 3.0

I know iv is not steroids but it can mask a multitude of other shady shit beyond dehydration. Phone Post 3.0
